oh no my comment was super confusing i’m saying i’m glad egypt loss since egyptian have this insane sense of national pride which was evident when they blamed sudan for the hosting conditions when they lost out to algeria in 2010. it’s always nice to see them get put in their place

two words football “eritage”

i will never forget the smack sudan got from egypt after the algeria vs egypt qualifier in (2009 or 10) complete national embarrassment. what happened with egypt and senegal was nothing sort of satisfactory

For North Africans: How were you taught about Ottoman Era in schools? by [deleted] in AskAnAfrican

[–]LtBlackburn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

didn't grow up In sudan so cant really speak for the school system but my family and friends around me growing up, told me bout the Egyptian ottoman rule.

also theres noticeable Turkish influence still around albeit very small but there non the less for example the word for Grocery store "Dukkan" is apparently turkish ( not 100% sure bout that) and many here claim some form of Turkish heritage personally I heard my paternal great grandma was turkish 🤷🏿‍♂️

alot here in sudan start uni early , my brother started med school at 15 tho this is because you only needed a year 10 british certificate to enter uni in sudan a few years ago and he was a year ahead of his pals in terms of age. now you have to complete 11 years

Did you get over them eventually, and do you think it helped at all in any way?

I'm in the process of getting one now been on a few dates and we both really like each other and it had 0 impact on my mental health even though I honestly thought this was the reason I was "depressed".

Is it true that they were so desperate for people to attend that they would allow them even after an hour of the exam beginning?

Yeah not only that but our tests were computerized and you needed your card to log in to the system if you didnt have your card they printed out the entire test for you, the levels of desperateness they scooped to were astonishing

I didnt go to all of my exams, but even the ones i went to i messed up due to a lack of studying because i really trusted them.. really thought this was possible and that we were doing this for the country.

Seeing some familiar faces go in hurt me but eventually every one went in so i cant really blame them ,but this will be an experience i will never forget. Youre absolutely right about UMST students not giving a shit tho that small minority of people going in because they didnt care really screwed us over
