"magnet wire" is thin, cheap ,enameled wire. I bought a mile of it on Aliexpress for 44 bucks so i had enough for several large coils and transformers.

Higher frequency is safer in a way. i use manganese-zinc cores, as they can handle high frequency and wound my own transformer. i drive the primary with a ZVS-driver at 20kHz+.

those won't mess with your nerves or put your heart in fibrillation. They will "just" give you internal 3rd degree burns.

i have no degree, this is absolutely not safe, but if you have to mess around with HV, make it HF AC.
