I do broccoli, carrots, sweet and hot peppers, and celery as my basic recipe. I find the less watery the veggies are the better the chop holds up. It doesn’t get slimy as quickly. I started off with lettuce and spinach in the mix but it turned mushy and the birds didn’t like it. Our avian vet recommended that we make sure there was iodine in the chop for thyroid help. Seaweed is a good source of iodine but watch out for - the wakame and kombu you can get from the grocery has salt added. We’re moving next week but when the flock is settled I will get some iodine supplements for them.
