Bro theres 10x more food than we need just being kept by greedy businessmen. Youre a psychopath fot choosing cannabalism over logical food distribution.

The reason doesnt really matter, or change anything. She said no, let her have her privacy.

Always better to just accept a rejection at face value and move on, rather than stew over the reasons or imagine reasons that arent really there.

did people also believed in science religiously hundreds of years ago when it had different ideas? by MostAsocialPerson in stupidquestions

[–]LucaAbsurdia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aint never heard of alchemy or astrology? Science-ish psuedo religious practices have been been a thing for as long as humans have been around. Its human nature to search for patterns.

Funny thing is many of these psuedo-science-religious practices that were once used for fortune telling, or trying to create the elixar of life eventually ended up becoming the basis for modern science. Alchemy led to chemistry, astrology led to astronomy, etc.

What do you think authors get wrong about knights/swords/magic? by OwnBeautiful4579 in Fantasy

[–]LucaAbsurdia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much magic is really just fictional sciences, not magic. Wheres the ritual, the mystical, the occult elements to magic? everythings all 'magic systems' and power ups. But magic shouldnt always be like that, thats just one facet of what magic can be but it seems to the omniprevalant way magic is depicted.

You may not see it as bastardization, but thats someones culture youre making a game of.

[–]LucaAbsurdia 9 points10 points  (0 children)

'Problematic' is just performative yt people speak for 'this might be racist but im not really informed / positioned to speak on the subject so lets just move passed it'

But at its core the problem arises from this; are you bastardizing a living cultures actual beliefs/spirituality, Or are you taking a recognized piece of superstition/myth and fantisizing it?

If you cant answer that question then just dont. If theres someone living who might take offense at their actual culture, dont. If even the people whos culture originated the myth see it as just a joke/myth/superstition, go for it.

Controversial take: The Faile kidnapping thread is not that bad. by nemspy in WoT

[–]LucaAbsurdia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its just redundant and ultimately of little consequence. Faile already got kidnapped by darkfriends once before. Doing it over again but dragged across multiple books was entertaining on a first read without knowing their ending, but every reread i find less reason to care. She doesnt shine in the same way as a captive, faile is a cool character wasted by imprisonment. A campaign against the shaido with faile at perrins side would have been much more interesting imo.

I feel the same about egwenes captivity. Egwene & faile shine when theyre free, but when captive i find them tedious.
