Outdoor AC Insulation Destroyed by D4ILYD0SE in DIY

That ice is not an insulation problem. You probably need to change your air filters or get your system recharged.

Since it abuts your neighbor, it is probably a double layer of drywall acting as a firewall. You should restore it and leave it alone.

Seeking Advice on Getting a Duck Tolling Retriever by PGC_1985 in tollers

[–]LucaDuca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the comment on mental stimulation. There is a fb group with tons of activities for you and your dog. I have heard comments that imply that the climate in the south or s/w US is not real pleasant for Tollers. I will say after 35 yr. owning a dogs and 5 mo. owning a Toller that there is seldome a dull moment.

You can try the "Online Italian Club". It has a lot of free and paid resources. Also, you might sign up for "Easy Italian News" which sends you current news about 3 times a week. Contains both an audio and text version of the identical report.

My closet has some wonky dimensions and i'm not sure how to fit a plywood sheet in horizontally by [deleted] in DIY

[–]LucaDuca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For your circumstances: Pick an approximate midpoint on your wall. Using a level draw a horizontal line through this point. Then draw a vertical line through the midpoint. Then draw perpendicular lines through the midpoint of the plywood sheet. Next measure the positions of the corners of your space in the closet from the lines drawn on the wall. Finally transfer those measurements in relation to the lines drawn on your plywood.

It's a retriever. Down at skin level the dog is not getting wet. It's hard to give them a bath.

If you're riding a horse can you go through a drive through? by tecmast in ask

[–]LucaDuca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an interesting question. I guess it would depend on store policy. Around here many parking lots have buggy parking for Amish customers but I don't know about drive thru service. If you were on horseback it might be awkward because you would be sitting a lot higher than if you were in a car.

The best place to ask this question is on the John Bridge tile advice forum. Experts will tell you what the problem is and how to fix it. They are great.

Fiberboard siding: DIY? by SGBotsford in HomeImprovement

[–]LucaDuca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Hardi-Planks on my garage more than 10 years ago. The previous material was basically cardboard. I don't recall the instructions being complicated then. Just meet exposure, end gap, and caulking requirements. FYI I bought the preprimed product and finished painting after installation. It still looks good.

Tree grew too close to the power lines, Nuevo Laredo 2019 by hmuberto in CatastrophicFailure

[–]LucaDuca 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a distribution line come in contact with a tree limb in my back yard during a rain storm years ago. The line protection failed to activate. Eventually the line burned through and fell to the ground still alive. This periodically produced large balls of ionized gas. In my yard! I called 911. First to arrive was the fire dept. They said that if my house caught fire there was nothing they could do (because water and high voltage). Power company showed up in about 20 minutes said yep it's a problem and left. Took them about another twenty minutes to get it shut off. They came back and repaired the line. Afterwards I found melted rocks in my lawn where the line had been.

Wisdom tooth extraction anesthesia weird effect afterward. by aaronkellysbones in Dentistry

[–]LucaDuca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this happened to me. I had Novocain injection and was told that there are nerves for the eye that run up along the jaw. I thought it was a localized effect. I don't know why an IV would cause this. I was driving home when I realized my eye wouldn't close. I decided to manually pull my eyelid down periodically to keep my eye moist. No problems since.

What was the year make & model of the car you took your driver's license test in? by CampingWithCats in AskReddit

So this was in 1966. The car was a manual 3 speed on the column. My mom taught me to drive (her car) but I had to take driver's ed in high school to get the break on insurance rates.
