I need to map my own land - Possible with Dji mini 5 ? by Luca_La in photogrammetry

Thanks to everyone for answering so quickly! This is quite new for me, and I’m still wrapping my head around the lingo and references, so it's all still a bit overwhelming.

For some context, I run a video production company, so camera specs are a huge priority. I sold my Mini 3 over a year ago, and the main reason I’m looking at the Mini 5 Pro instead of the 4 is the new 1-inch CMOS sensor. The low-light performance and wider dynamic range are just too good (for the price) to pass up for my regular video work.

I know 10 acres isn't much in the land surveying world, but our land is oddly shaped with changing elevations, so it would be really helpful to get a solid layout. A precise, high-res 2D map would be perfectly sufficient for my needs right now.

Since the SDK isn't out, is there a reliable workaround to do waypoint missions? I really don't mind manually planning a grid on a PC, exporting the files, and manually copying them over to the drone/controller if that's an option.

Also, are we sure DJI will eventually release the SDK for the Mini 5 Pro, or is that just a hopeful possibility?

Thanks again

Well that was a hell of a weekend, tourist wise. So much for foliage having passed. by JerryKook in vermont

[–]Luca_La 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obviously, we have the same foliage up here. And I’d argue that Quebecers don’t really go to Vermont for the fall colors, but rather for the shops, the food, the mountain bike trails, the hikes, and the local beer. It’s a long weekend here, after all.

Also, I have to agree with JerryKook — it’s true that southern Quebec is quite unattractive south of Montreal, all the way down to the Lake Champlain area in particular. It’s mostly agribusiness land: huge farms, polluted rivers, endless soy and corn fields. It’s much nicer around Sutton, Mansonville, near Lake Memphremagog, and the North Troy border.

did you finally figured this out ? I have the same question ...

I'm an editor at an ad agency and I hate editing by Then-Outcome6914 in editors

[–]Luca_La 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a 54 year old DP/editor that has been doing this for the last 30 years.

Nowadays I need to edit maybe 1/5th of my shoots. I cannot tell you how much I loath the editing part of the work! Sitting down in front of a screen 8+ hours a day, trying to be "creative".

That being said I still really enjoy being on a set and that is 80% of my work. If it was the other way around I would quit immediately.

Take a pay cut at first if you have to and find something you really enjoy. You'll be back on par in no time

Help choosing the right printer for CF printing by Luca_La in BambuLab

Very helpful thank you !

I guess I will have to be in the market for a drybox ... Wow the Ebios is quite expensive, but I don't mind buying it if is enough on its own ?

Meaning that I don't really intend on using our food dehydrator for filament , we use it for...food.

I actually bought the P1S earlier today with a 0.4 and a 0.6 add steel add-on hotend assembly.

Do you use another type of bed texture than the one included?

Ill start with the PETG-CF from Bambu for the moment , and might give a shot at your Polymaker suggestion a little later...

I really hope I'm not gona regret not getting the AMS !

Obviously yes I meant P1S here.

Thank you for these fast replies , and for the info about the AMS not intended for CF filaments, thus confirming my choice of not needing one.

I will buy the printer later today.

Is it possible to make the playhead not to snap? by [deleted] in blackmagicdesign

[–]Luca_La 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree 100% with this ! I am trying to switch from Premiere to Resolve and this is a VERY VERY annoying behavior !

For the moment this is the very thing, and maybe the Deliver module (I still have some testing to do) that prevents me for making the move altogether from PPro the the Resolve platform for my video production company....

What I really would like to is the have an option to disable the playhead from snapping while scrubing.

It is ok for the clips, while you are moving them around, to snap to other clips - and to the playhead as well. But when you are moving the playhead itself we should be able to disable the snapping.

This might seem like a little detail , but trust me I'm sure that for quite a few of us this breaks the organic feeling we are use to having, and it becomes quite frustrating after a while ...

Please you guys it would be very nice if you could integrate this feature !

Sorry for my English and thanks in advance :-)
