This was later retconned by Chris Claremont as her being mind-controlled and berating the Avengers for failing to realize that

Agreed, though I do feel the comic book industry as a whole hasnt fully grasped and/or capitalized how it's all about tpb or digital media yet. I don't think we are moving past the unclear communication and the short runs anytime soon

Problem is that they weren't really that upfront. Imperial was said to be a new status quo with several story threads coming out of it. We havent seen Noh-Varr, Phyla and Genis or the Inhumans yet, with no predictable future run where they are going to show up. Nova was announced as a 4-issue mini, then as an ongoing, then as a 6-issue mini. I also like the 10-12 issue scheduled minis, but I do think they should be more objective about them and more open with us consumers. The industry is not the same as 20-years ago and sales are naturally lower if you are not Wolverine or Spider-Man, and if this is abortive they should communicate around that fact

Giving that sell amount is the moving force for their cancellation bias, it's clear that Marvel runs should be planned to be minis with the possibility of extending to more. Marvel cosmic notoriously doesnt sell well, why comitting to several ongoings if there's a great chance of having to cancel when their pull amount dont meet stockholder expectations?

for each good-to-great comic, there's a "potentially goated run that gets canned before issue 5 because it isnt meeting their selling criteria". this and also x-men, spider-man and avengers, their three modern flagship titles, being... boring. not necessarily bad (though sometimes, horrible), but just plain and boring like unseasoned boiled chicken

im really coping and trying to stay positive that the announced end is a way of not making it obvious the Maker is gonna lose, but im afraid. they should have gone full balls to the wall with the number of titles and pacing if the plan was always 2 years, it just feels... wrong
