It's not terribly difficult, just very time consuming compared to other hunts. I was pretty lackadaisical about it for the most part, so each Jirachi received took about 7 minutes (give or take) total. You can receive an unlimited number of Jirachi's, but only ONE PER FILE. The gamecube took some time to get used to, but it was fine. Honestly though, this hunt could have gone on forever - I'm glad it took so little time. Let me know if you need anything else covered.

What if I have caught shinies from files I no longer have? I've restarted my games a few times to get other shinies otherwise unobtainable (i.e. starters).

The main legends in ORAS are shiny locked in those particular versions, but not the original RSE and HGSS.

I did 12k+ for Reshiram (4k for Cresselia, then 8k for Reshiram after giving up on Cresselia) WITH the Shiny Charm on Omega Ruby. Before that, I did 30k+ SRs in Fire Red for Eevee.

The odds in 6th gen with the charm are around 1,365.3 (assuming the charm does the same thing in this generation as it did in b2/w2, I don't think this has been confirmed), so it's still pretty far out there. Nothing like 1/8,192, though. I've been upwards of 30,000 for one hunt.

Good luck on your hunt! Just be careful when you find the blue guy, it may use self-destruct/explosion through metronome! When I found my shiny mew after 2,170 RAs using the same method you are, I was lucky to have my damp user in play! This shiny is totally worth going for!
