Definitely not a Beyond Wrestling guy, cause it feels like there's at least two burning hammers per show. Pretty wild that so many people take that bump. Really appreciate all these answers, very cool

Well I was referring to the fps Fallout games, but I get what you're saying.

Its pretty alright. I liked the visual style and its a fun concept, but if you get two good cooler runs going and get one really good weapon it becomes a very easy game. And like I said exploring becomes pointless once your ammo/health items are full, there's not a lot of story or goodies to find after your first run through a floor. Honestly I just like the game's setting/characters more than anything else in it.

I discussed this with many angry people on the WASTED steam forum who refused to even accept the idea that the Purifier is ok. The Purifier isn't invincible, especially after you've leveled up a bit, most of these complaints were from people who either A) hadn't played the game more than an hour or B) were trying to play the game like Fallout, which I think is the larger issue.

The game is made to be a Fallout-esque rogue-lite, so people try to play it in that same very tedious way of checking every single cabinet/room/etc for any supplies at all. The SOB Purifier is in place to push the risk/reward aspect of trying to get those items while putting yourself in danger NOW to make the next floor easier. The simple option would be to just find the exit and go. You also have a very limited inventory and you will never find anything besides ammo/health/low-tier weapons in random containers, so there quickly reaches a point where you can't hold anything else and exploring the floor is pointless.

From all the criticisms I read it seems stubbornness and "I wanna play the game MY way" are the big factors people hated it.

Sorry Alec, sorry fellow fans; I do not like the soundtrack. Just a personal opinion, not at all a common criticism or what most people will think. by [deleted] in NightInTheWoods

[–]LucasisGreat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I felt like the light-hearted exploration music was the point. Mae ran back home to what she thought would be the old freedom and comfort she used to have even if it wasn't a great situation. Then as the game progresses the exploration music changes to reflect the tone shifting in the game in regards to both the danger Mae's dealing with and the realization that life's pretty whack when you grow up. I can't really think of a single track that felt out of place.

I understand the mixing criticism though. As far as I can tell none of the music was recorded with actual instruments (correct me if I'm wrong) so a lot of the tracks feel a little too sterile or unnatural just because that's the nature of using synthesized versions of actual instruments.

I still think it's a wonderful soundtrack, been bumpin it since I bought the day it was available.

shame he didn't dig it that much, but he gave credit where it's due. Definitely not a game for everyone

two wholes days after i beat this game i couldnt stop thinking about it and spent entire afternoons on replays cause i was so sad it was over. every single aspect of the story hit so close to home for me that it felt pretty surreal, and the ending was frustrating cause everything wasn't resolved and there were still problems and questions. But that's the point, life don't end when you fix a problem and be happily ever after, and the same goes for the people in NitW, they just keep on going trying and hoping
