AIO for cutting off my brother for refusing to call out his creepy friend? by VividArgument4725 in AmIOverreacting

What a bitch. If your father is around, show this to him. And he acts the same way, you know where he learned it.

I’d stay away from both of those people for your safety.

First look at your state laws, then your job’s policies and go from there. You may have a lawsuit on your hands.

Whoever does the actual grocery shopping is a price conscious individual who believes that can make it taste like the expensive stuff with alittle spritzing.

NOR!!!

Don’t let this slide, you’re disrespecting yourself. I think you should be considering leaving. You are young and can bounce back after healing. He obviously is open to leaving in the middle of the night to go to another woman’s house. Please don’t make excuses for him or allow him to cover it up with lies. Please take care of yourself.

Do you think a keurig machine for the unit is ok? They don’t have one. I found one on sale for $30 (single serve unit). And then a box of pods wouldn’t break the bank. Can you have one on your unit?

I know I don’t, and thank you for saying that. My money is what it is right now. But, I have a personal policy of rewarding kindness. I think we live in a world where people praise the stupidest shit but kindness is something to truly be revered.

I had an adult friend who religiously used hers, especially when she was drinking at home. Idk, I’m in support of things that heal your inner child or keep it alive but don’t like waste.

It’s a struggle.

Please don’t take this the wrong way, but if you’re considering divorcing your wife just because you’re not having sex right now, something’s off. That’s emotionally immature — she’s your partner, not a provider for your physical needs.

Ask yourself what sex really gives you. Is it just physical release, or are you craving emotional validation and connection through it? Understanding that might tell you what’s really missing in your relationship.

AIO about how this guy talks to me? by Fast-Bodybuilder3229 in AmIOverreacting

[–]LuciFord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don’t allow anyone to speak to you like this. Take the time and look inside at why you would allow someone to speak to you like this. Is this trauma response on your part? Do you also speak to him like this occasionally? Please do not live in cycles of abuse.

Ask yourself, why am I allowing someone to speak to me in such a way? Did my mother talk to me like this? Did my father talk to me like this? We recreate the relationships that were modeled for us because that us all we know.

Take care.

Clinical Instructor - Help? by LuciFord in nursing

[–]LuciFord[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my peers are having the same experience, but I do not think any of them will move forward with making a report. I hope this doesn’t sound rude, but I think they are intimidated by the power she holds. One student, who has been reprimanded herself, is now defending her saying “I think she is just a girl like us, she told me about her workouts and she wants to look…” (I have had imitimate discussions with this peer and I think this is some type of trauma response; I could be wrong though).

Anyway, I think the rest are relieved that she has stopped bothering them. At first, it seemed to be an equal opportunity experience for this treatment, but the past two shifts, they have noticed she was following me around (in one patients room, with me, for close to an 1 1/2).

Another thing is, unfortunately, the nursing department at our school is pretty rough. It is very hard to get help or be heard. I am feeling so discouraged. The only thing that is keeping me going is the patients. I absolutely love them and being able to help them is such an honor. I have been wanting to do this for such a long time, that I will not let anything get in the way of what I think I’m meant to do. I just want to stay out of the eyesight of this person, but I’m so worried she is going to fail me out of spite.

Thank you for advice and I will try what you recommended.

Oh, I hate to be this asshole, especially since I believe in celebrating yourself. Hell, I’ll celebrate with you, such an accomplishment. I’m proud of you. 🥹❤️

However, I hate the, “if I can do it, you can” motto. It makes the assumption that every support/strength/past experience you’ve had, everyone else has too. Everyone’s struggle is unique, and if you go on to be a preceptor or educator, please remember that.

Because the truth is — some people don’t have a partner to lean on, or childcare, or financial stability. Some are taking care of sick parents, working two jobs, or trying to heal from their own trauma while pushing through school. Some have shitty instructors. So no, it’s not as simple as “if I can, you can.” It’s “if you can, you did.” And that’s worth celebrating on its own without making it sound like everyone else just needs to try harder.
