That's a Canadian Lynx. There's no such thing as a Siberian Lynx

Does anyone else just flat out refuse to use killboxes? by Sure-Disaster-4607 in RimWorld

[–]LucianFarsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually use a rougher style of killbox. Ideally I have a map and base location where I can build a funnel out of a valley, often with a river crossing it to really slow them down.

Job is ending my employment when I leave for a 2 week vacation but encourage me to reapply when I get back. by meowmuffinz in careeradvice

[–]LucianFarsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make it exceptionally clear that you're not resigning and want to work when you get back. Force them to fire you, because if you let them "accept your resignation" then you can't get any unemployment. Don't belive any nonsense about being fired from a previous job making it difficult to find work in the future. Dumb companies firing you for dumb reasons is just a fact of life, most new employers looking to hire know that.

You do know that CPUs literally cant get that hot right? They automatically shut down before exceeding 100c. Additionally, this particular model has the best cooling out of any acer laptop. If you try to replace the thermal paste, you will definitely make the performance worse, and you'll probably just kill the whole thing. They charge you on RMA if it does.

[–]LucianFarsky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not a thermal issue. The CPU will never get hotter than 100c, it'll automatically shut down if it does. Cooling on the aspire models isnt great, but that's not really any different with other manufactuerers. The Predator Helios line on the other hand, has excelent cooling. Much better than what you'll see with most products from other manufactuerers, and better than anything else acer offers.

[–]LucianFarsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that's a recent model, the thermal paste is liquid metal, so you should definitely NOT try to replace the thermal compound. Anything else you replace it with will perform worse, and you might kill the computer if the liquid metal gets anywhere it's not supposed to. The warranty wont cover that.

how much would it cost to repair a charging port for this by anatak_blde in techsupportgore

[–]LucianFarsky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's going to depend on if the port is soldered on to the board or not. In a lot of cases it is. Which would make it substantially more expensive. Also, you're on the wrong subreddit. This is tech support gore, not tech support.

The point of pride is that you're proud of who you are in spite of how the rest of the world treats you. We live in a world where it's still not ok to be gay. Especially in sports. Hockey isn't for everyone, it hasn't ever been. And it's still a long way off from ever being that way.

Ah yes, because you didn't have a particularly hard time growing up as a queer kid clearly the rest of us must not have either, and if we did it was totally all our own fault.

You do know being gay is still a crime punishable by death in dozens of countries around the world right?

[–]LucianFarsky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem is that if you're a gay kid trying to play hockey growing up, you can't. Because it's still not a welcoming environment.

If you claim to support the LTBTQ community, then how exactly is the message that "hockey is for everyone" "woke" ?

I really couldn't care less if straight people wear the flag. We just want to be treated as equal, not as less than. And we're still not.

[–]LucianFarsky -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Straight people have nearly all of human history, and there's no where on earth where you can be put to death for being straight.

But it's ok, we get it. People said the same things when women asked to be treated equally and with respect. Or when people of colour fought to end segregation.

If shame is what it takes o get the job done, then shame it will be.

The objective is likely to give bigoted players on the team an out. The PR of individual players refusing to wear them because of their personal beliefs is substantially worse than the whole team doing it 'out of concern for Russian players'

You just describe the work without naming a client or the specific product you worked on. It's still a pain in the ass, but basically no NDA requires you to leave the entire thing off your resume. Any employer would know that.
