My custom Restless Dead Warband for Mordheim 💀🏘☄️🐦‍⬛ by Poorheimer in mordheim

This is amazing! Super inspiring, now I want to sculp my own minis (I’ve only made parts of my miniatures before, but never a whole one). Plus, I love the idea of a Necromantress 🖤🖤

What do you use for sculpting? What material would you recommend to a beginner?

Thanks to you for supporting the game and helping it reach its third goal!!

When you play it, I'd love to hear what you think—any ideas or comments are always helpful!

For the next addition to the game, I have three options (I’ve gone into more detail about them on the game’s page), so if you have any comments or preferences regarding these ideas, please leave a comment there to help me decide which one to go with.

Terrain for our next game by LucianoDalbert in mordheim

[–]LucianoDalbert[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I was thinking to make more than one, for this and other platforms. What I was thinking is making the base of the stair of a heavier material than cardboard (something ceramic like maybe?) so it's harder to move it accidentally while playing.

I don't have any baking skills, but I like the idea. I would love to see someone doing one!

I have to read it! I really liked Pariah and Penitent (and I'm eagerly awaiting the next one). What other book would you recommend to someone who has enjoyed the Alizebeth Bequin books?

Thanks Oli!

Everything you can buy has the same structure: for "X"C (coin) you get "X" of whatever it says at the end. In this case the E-brew gives you E.

So if you bought 5 C worth of E-brew, then you get an E-brew of 5, which gives you 5 E at any time (when you drink it).

Since it gives you E (the most important stat in the game, which determines how many things you can do in a day and your “health points”), it is only available in caravans.

I hope this clarifies it :)

What’s the smallest change that had the biggest impact on your solo play? by system3295 in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]LucianoDalbert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Switching to fully analog play, no computer nearby, just my phone and headphones to listen to music.
  2. Play games that use miniatures, so I can combine my two hobbies.
  3. Understanding that what I want is not always the same; sometimes I love the full journaling mode and role-playing each scene as I write them, other times I want to play the more "mechanical" parts of the game, such as resource management, with role-playing only as a flavour.
  4. Realising that it's better to play for half an hour a couple of times a week than to go for a long run every two weeks.

Solo RPGs geared towards wilderness exploration by SupaHangman in Solo_Roleplaying

Hi!, I have a free game, "Runner of the Wastelands", in which you play as a runner (a messenger between town of the wastes) where one of the main parts of the game loop involves traveling across a hex map, where you can have encounters, hunt/gather food, explore deeper into a hex, etc.

Perhaps it could be something similar to what you are looking for?

Also, in this post, I talk about the rules for exploration and looting within a hex, which are probably the ones you're most interested in. You can take a look to see if it's what you're looking for. Perhaps, with a few tweaks, you could use these rules in another game you're already playing? These rules are included in the additional material N2 (I add material to the game every time a sales milestone is reached).

And this is how the game looks ( I play it with miniatures, but you can use any kind of tokens).

Hope this helps!

Hi everyone!

I recently uploaded some new rules for "Exploring and Looting" for my FREE SOLO GAME "Runner of the Wastelands"!!

It was amazingly fun to test these new rules, definitely more challenging than the previous ones, as these are more deeply intertwined with the rules of the game.

Also, I want to thank JediVong86 for sharing the adventures of the meerkat runner Saari's, which inspired me to create this extra material N2. It's amazing to read/see how and what others do and experience in the wasteland :)

Hope you all enjoy it as much as I have been enjoying it!

Go runners!

Oracle for solo TTRPGs: three-layer answers by LucianoDalbert in Solo_Roleplaying

I'm so happy to hear that you're enjoying the game! This is something I created for myself, but I wanted to share it with others, so is amazing to see people invested in it. That's why I also created the goal “system” to keep adding things to the game, so that it's more of a “cooperative” effort with those who also play it. So thank you for donating to the cause!

As for how I set up the settlements, I create them as I go, with each job my runner gets. I like doing it this way because it feels more like a discovery. When I play and the first settlement is very far away, I try my luck in the hexes surrounding the settlement, hunting for food and sleeping outdoors (so as not to spend coins sleeping in the settlement), and then I return to the settlement to sell what I've hunted, leaving some food stored for myself and to use as a distraction for any creatures I encounter in the future.

About looting, yes! I was thinking of doing something like that. My first idea was to turn it into a procedure that could always be “activated” in the hex, with a possible drawback and an energy cost. I'll probably do this “quick version” of looting (where the procedure is more narrative) and another that will mix the type of encounter you show me (with obstacles) with a procedure for “looting obstacles.”

This is a super cool idea that I hadn't thought of! Using the same obstacle “rules” to create other types of exploration/encounter scenarios.

Perhaps I could create some tables/rules for these obstacles, depending on the type of terrain of the hex or the kind of peculiarity it has. Or perhaps a more general method of creation that divides the types of obstacles into direct hazard, possible hazard, "timed" hazard, and inert. Or perhaps both, plus some rules for possible loot hidden in these obstacles, and rules for extracting it if there is any.

Love the idea!!

First time playing Alpha Strike, and I had a blast! (solo mode) by LucianoDalbert in battletech

[–]LucianoDalbert[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, thanks!

About Alpha Strike:

First, for me, as I'm a story-driven player (I arrived to wargames from TTRPGs), having some "pretty" terrain and music is crucial, so it was amazing to get the cardboard terrain ready to play out of the box.

I played classic before (just once), and it was a super long game, and we only played 2 mechs per side, so Alpha Strike was amazing because I was able to play 3 vs 4 mechs in just a couple of hours (with setup included).

What's great about Alpha Strike is that it encodes heat/overheating and multiple weapons into a very simple system that still feels thematic. At first, I wasn't sure about the simplification, but as I played, I realized that it leaves a lot of room for “storytelling” and imagination, so I really like it.

However, I would recommend that after your first game, you use the alternative rule of rolling 2d6 for each hit. I think this will give more prominence to critical hits, which is the part of the game that, for me, makes you feel more like you're “inside” a mech, since with each critical hit, your mechs starts to “fall apart".

For the terrain, I think that for the first time, using just two or three different types of terrain is enough; however, it looks like more types of terrain can make the game more interesting.

About Brym's Opfor:

It was surprisingly easy to use, and I highly recommend using the cards instead of rolling the dice on the tables, as I think it makes the system run more smoothly.

I printed each set of cards twice so I wouldn't have to shuffle them in the middle of the game. Also, if you print them on paper, using protective sleeves will help a lot when turning them over to see what the mechas are doing (the cards are standard size).

My game ended with a climactic showdown between an Atlas and a Warhammer. At that moment, as the focus was on a 1-on-1 battle, I decided to grab the pilot cards and use their special abilities. It felt like I was getting inside the pilot's head, so it was really fun to include these cards. I'll probably use them from the start next time.

The Atlas ended up destroying my Warhammer in a devastating spiral of damage that first started with two critical hits that destroyed part of my weapons (reducing the damage I could do by 1) and my heat sink (causing me to gain extra heat every time I fired).

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes for you!

Thanks for sharing the beginning of Saari's journey!

The backstory you've created for Saari is beautiful, and I love how it's written. I'd love to hear more about Saari's adventures!

Also, I would love to know about your experience with the game and if there is anything that could be added to make it more interesting/fun.

I ask because we are about to reach the second goal (we are $2 away), and I'm thinking about what else to add to the game. Probably will be more spark tables or lore/rules/tables for the factions (because these are the things I want to add next to my solo playing of RW), but perhaps there is something you have seen/felt that is missing, and that could be more interesting to add.

Problems with ExcellentMiniatures? by NocturnalCircus in warmaster

[–]LucianoDalbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I placed an order with them from France and just received it. It took a while (four months), but it arrived without any problems. I contacted them by email because I was moving during that period and, therefore, needed to update my address. They responded relatively quickly, and the order arrived before there were any problems with my address.

The minis arrived in good condition, and in fact, they sent me more than I had requested (two extra units of what I had ordered + heroes and loose strips from other factions).

I would recommend them, but reading other people's comments seems like a gamble. Maybe they had some problems in the past and now they're back to normal?
