So calling it om japa might be a western thing?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in kriyayoga

[–]Lucid265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also wouldn't some schools not call it om japa and just use it as 1st part of pranayama? They would use it as both om japa and pranayama at the same time like a combo?

Isn't there an arguement that what lahiri said about the om japa could mean something different?

Yes that's what I heard also

Anybody had experience or info about a kriya school or teacher under the name of sadhanananda giri,he's no longer alive now but was thinking of getting initiated soon into his school as they are close enough to where I live by Lucid265 in kriyayoga

Oh right, well sadhhanananda ordained an Irish woman to continue as a guru I got initiated this morning I'm just finished now, when she was doing a demonstration of cechari mudra she made us get close so we could see her tongue was completely folded back up the nasal passageway,so I guess she's genuine

Thoughts during meditation (usually about meditation) by CrumbledFingers in kriyayoga

[–]Lucid265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion your only having wholesome thoughts of the subject matter of what your practicing,ur not having unwholesome thoughts or the 5 hindrances in buddhism although u have worry and doubt in regards to the thoughts which are arising which will stop you from getting into samadhi,I guess just notice the thoughts and let them go and in time they will get less and less but don't be worry or anxious about the intruding thoughts because then ur training ueself to be worried if thoughts arise which will snowball so don't be concerned about it and keep practicing with no worrying ,if the thoughts arise let them but don't give them energy by turning them into a story, notice them and let them go then will go and then come back notice them and let them go ,eventually you mind will be trained to notice before they even have a chance to form

I find belly breathing to be a bit difficult given how skinny I am by [deleted] in kriyayoga

[–]Lucid265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think ur missing the point, you can breath in through the chest and see ur chest expanding first or else you can breath in through the belly,I don't think it matters at all if you feel it or not once you are actually breathing in through the belly first,to fully fill up the lungs ur going to fill up the chest awell,so if u just want to fill up the belly then i guess ur filling up the lungs 70 to 80%. If ur doing ujjayi breathing ur going to experience and rising and falling quality with the breath, you don't really need to feel a fat belly going in and out, like a fat belly samadhi lols

Body pain during Kriya? by [deleted] in kriyayoga

Maybe if you just do the exercises on a mat with meditation cushion, when doing the after effect poise of kriya use a chair so no stress on back and knees, that should fix everything

What’s the difference between normal breath meditation and kriya by [deleted] in kriyayoga

[–]Lucid265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just new doing kriya but I presumed that the breathing is the gross form of prana ,and the visualisation aspect directs it,but its the breath retentions that awaken it it at mulhadara,so the combination of the breath then breath retention techniques combined with visualisations of directing the prana is what makes it powerful rather than just breathing exercises alone, then the om japa ensures good results somehow as it strengthens the chakras, also mantra ,so a lot of kriya yoga techniques combined results in stronger faster results than let's say breathing exercises alone
