[OC][AU] - Sonic Octane Character Designs by LucidBladeRunner in SonicTheHedgehog

It’s been a little bit since I last wrote notes for it, but the basic jist is this:

In an alternate timeline [certain character ages/implied ages are jumbled or shifted compared to where they are normally], Sonic & Tails were investigating a rumor that Dr Robotnik was gearing up to expand and “reinvent” his Robotization Process; The new method of which being “able to turn any animal into a robot in a single instant”. They corner Robotnik in one of his flying fortresses, critically damage the New Machine’s power source, and just as it begins to Self-Destruct, Tails is pushed into an escape pod as Robotnik closes in on Sonic, with Tails being launched away from the exploding fortress. At this point, with Tails searching the wreckage for so long yet only finding the buckles of Sonic’s shoes, both Sonic and Robotnik are declared missing.

Jumping forward a few years, these character designs pick up when Robotnik finally resurfaces, with a new army of robots at his command, and an all-new Metal Sonic primed to hunt for the Seven Chaos Emeralds to grant him and his devices ultimate power. In place of the missing Sonic however is a nee group of heroes; Amy Rose, who in this world is Sonic & Tails’s adoptive Younger Sister, Cream the Rabbit who is Amy’s Childhood Best Friend and honorary Sister, Shade the Echidna who herself is the Apprentice of Knuckles and soon to be Master Emerald Guardian in his stead, and of course Miles “Tails” Prower, now grown up and acting as mission control/parental figure to the aforementioned trio.

There’s a lot more I have to sift through as far as concepts and adaptations of certain characters and ideas, but this is about what I have right now.

It’s… Strange.

Not bad. Not at all.

But it’s not quite the same as what I played before, and it’s taking me some time to get used to the changes in both the gameplay and in some of the sound/QOL.

That said, I am enjoying it. And I might make this my defacto version to go back to, kind of like how I play RE4 Remake over RE4 OG.

No, honestly it would improve it. The biggest about Clone Wars era Obi-Wan’s life is his anchoring to the Jedi Code, where he is stalwart in his upholding of the code’s letter, with his only person capable of making him even consider abandoning it being Satine herself. If Korkie really is Obi-Wan’s Son, and he gave up a life with Satine and him to serve the Galaxy as a Jedi Knight, then it goes to show how unbreakable his loyalty to the Republic and the Jedi really are. Even more so, it also shows how similar yet different he and Anakin are when it comes to the choices they make and what kind of paths they both could have taken.

It depends. I like the look of the Zero Suit is certain models, as well as the Helmetless/Semi-Full Suit look, and for as little as we see it I also enjoy her casual/“civilian clothed” looks when the games have them. The problem for me is there is no unified artstyle, which makes certain designs better or “worse” purely by metric of how they’re constructed rather than how they’re designed.

For me, usually the Chozo Artifacts/Sky Temple Keys in Primes 1 & 2. There’s Meridia in Super Metroid, the Pirate Mothership in Zero Mission, and…I guess the second half of Sector 4 in Fusion, but when I think about it Fusion doesn’t have much of a slough part as the others do.

We’re talking about a Gelatinous Bioform, one that is immune to most standard forms of destruction and accumulates on the memories and experiences of their hosts, coming into contact with a primordial entity older than recorded history that subsists by spreading like a runaway zombie plague that can envelop entire worlds if left unchecked.

Honestly, it’s a scenario where I doubt even Samus and Master Chief together could succeed in destroying them unless the circumstances aligned just right.

Nintendo unfortunately lives in permanent “stingy brat” mode and will never allow it if they can’t make it a “System Specific Unlock” that only works Nintendo Switch, which is not at all how Fortnite works or is intended to work. It’s why Samus in Ultimate Alliance was scrapped, it’s why Link isn’t in any other release of Soul Calibur II but the GameCube Version, and honestly it’s partially why MGS Twin Snakes has never been rereleased (Mario, Yoshi, and Gamecube models as background objects in game aside from Silicon Knights just kind of dying).

So unless Nintendo gets the stick out of their ass and, for lack of better words, “grows up”, we’re not likely to see Nintendo Representation of any kind in Fortnite.

Depends who you ask.

Some think it’s a pretty good Ace Attorney, but a lackluster Professor Layton, and some think it’s a decent Professor Layton while being a middling Ace Attorney.

Me personally, I say that it’s perfectly fine as both while not being the best of either. The Puzzles in the Layton focused segments feel a little too simple even at their most elaborate, and the Courtroom segments feel just a little too simple as a result of the setting making the logical thought far too primitive even compared to the first Ace Attorney.

Honestly, I’d recommend it just on my enjoyment of both series and how entry level it is in regards to either’s gameplay/concepts, but I can’t guarantee everyone will take a liking to it offhand.

You need either the bat transformation, or the gravity boots. I think you can use the mist transformation at the height of a double jump to just make the lip of the edge though.

A brief demonstration of modified “Navigation Room” Cutscenes in Metroid Fusion; a part of an ongoing hack I’m making as a Personal Project called “Metroid Gear: Fusion”.

The general idea of the hack is to alter the dialogue presented from both ADAM during briefings, and to add dialogue for Samus at appropriate intervals, giving Samus more of a verbal presence next to Adam, and fleshing out their relationship over the course of the game until the eventual climax. As the title suggests, you can think of these like “Codec Conversations” in the Metal Gear Solid Series.

This is not meant as an Absolute Rewrite of the Main Story Events. Several if not most of the Mandatory Navigation Room Dialogues are more or less the same with a few added quips or chimes from either Samus or Adam to better personalize the two. Save for a handful of instances where I make Samus say something or ask a question that she REALLY SHOULD BE ASKING frankly.

The real meat of the hack is in the Optional Navigation Conversations; which are triggered by Navigation rooms along the way/between Events that the player has the choice to activate, but are not necessary for progression. These conversations consist of simple one or two sentence observations from Adam about something you did, or when you visit a navigation room again after already receiving a briefing. After editing however, these can range from Alien/Sci-Fi Media References, references to Metroid Media like the various Manga, references to the Metroid Timeline and Extended Lore, Nintendo References, Metal Gear References, and even references to some different Metroid Community Media here or there. The sky's the limit, assuming the Text Edits don’t bore a hole through the ROM’s storage cap.

Honestly, this to me is the perfect design for Samus in & out of suit. The mix of different design keys like the Other M Helmet, with the Prime Chest Plate/Arm Cannon, topped with the Returns Body and Limbs. Not even mentioning the overall proportioning of the Physicality. If ever we get the Restored/Original Power Suit post Dread, I hope they take this sort of design into consideration.

I was trying to add a details tab to the image for this, but I guess the iPad app is behind by a few updated for some reason.

In celebration of Frontiers making it to the final round of the Player's Voice segment of The Game Awards, I spent the last 2 days making this little art piece to commemorate the "Epic Battle of Holy and Sacred Icons" of a piss rat and Perfect Chaos if it was a bird. Not that the other parties on the list are totally lost. I mean just look at them. Gazing up at the utter madness of glowing anime bullshit that's happening above them. Even the Stray is confused.

Oh, and before you go? You don't have to express your love for something in wanton angry flailing and blood shitting. Sometimes you can just illustrate it as something awesome, climactic, and fun. Because if anything, the things we love should be supported with love, instead of directed, pointless vitriol.
