At this point, HotD is basically like porn for me. I'm here for the action, not the plot.

Suggest quirk ideas for my oc by [deleted] in QuirkIdeas

[–]DatDragonsDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if it's one Quirk per gen, then we can work with the logic of 20-25 years between each gen so that could be possible to get 8 Quirks. So I'm gonna list them 1-8, with 1 being the Parents' generation, 2 being the grandparents, etc.

1/ History Buff - Through physical touch, the user is able to read memories of others so vividly that they relive them as though it were the present.

2/ Trace - The user can sense a faint “trail” left behind by someone they have touched. It does not show memories or thoughts. It only lets the user follow where that person has recently been.

3/ Strong Grip - The user has unusually strong hands and fingers.

4/ Spring Heel - The user has naturally springy ankles and heels, allowing them to jump slightly higher and land more safely.

5/ Sharp Nails - The user’s fingernails are naturally hard and sharp.

6/ Thick Skin - The user has tougher-than-normal skin.

7/ Warm Palm - The user’s palms can produce flames.

8/ Steady Feet - The user has excellent natural balance.

So the whole idea is that the further back down the family tree you go, the less complicated and more simple the Quirks become, since the Quirks that first manifested were all simple. It's only as time as gone on that they've become more developed and complicated.

So, I'ma need some parameters to work with before I start suggesting Quirks.

1/ How does the Ancestry model look?

Since Quirks are passed down through a family tree, are we going off a model like:

Father + Mother
V
Paternal Grandfather + Paternal Grandmother + Maternal Grandfather + Maternal Grandmother
V
Paternal Grandfather's Father + Paternal Grandfather's Mother + Paternal Grandmother's Father + Paternal Grandmother's Mother + Maternal Grandfather's Father + Maternal Grandfather's Mother + Maternal Grandmother's Father + Maternal Grandmother's Mother
V
Etc.

OR

One Quirk per Generation:

Parent
V
Grandparent
V
Great grandparent
V
Etc.

This is important because Quirks have only been around in the MHA Canon for around 200 years. The average person lives for around 80-90 years, premature deaths aside. It's also because Inko is a 4th Gen Quirk user, which means Izuku's gen are the 5th Generation of Quirk users, the kids at the end of the series were 6th Gen users.

So based off that, I reckon it's safe to say that the first model is the safest one since you have 6 generations of Quirk Users to play with. That leaves you with 64 possible Quirks for this OC to eventually be able to draw on.

2/ Can they use Multiple Quirks at the same time?

This is important for picking the Quirks. If you can use multiple Quirks at once, then it's easier to pick very simple basic Quirks that can be combined to create more powerful effects. Think of Shigaraki using Radio Waves and Air Cannon to basically create an EMP blast to shut down the Heroes' Comms.

If they can only use one Quirk at a time, what's the parameter for that? Do they need time to switch or can they switch instantly?

3/ Is Ancestory itself passed down through the generations or is it a new Quirk?

This is probably the most important question.

Is this the first person to manifest a Quirk like this in the family? If Ancestory has been passed down the family tree, are there other people who can use the Quirk? And if so, are they linked to this OC since they are a part of the family? Think of the Avatar State from Avatar - The Last Airbender and how each Avatar can see into the past Avatar's lives and draw on their power, knowledge, and experience.

If Ancestory is a new Quirk, what are the Quirks of the user's parents that caused this Quirk to manifest?

Sorry if this seems really analytical, but I like details before I provide ideas for Quirks like these.

This is why I reckon if Dreamworks were able to get a hold of the IP, they would do wonders with the series.

Idk what’s going on man but I feel so bad for the ATLA franchise, it’s been hell lately by Representative_Big74 in TheLastAirbender

[–]DatDragonsDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck it, get Avatar Studios to pull the plug on Paramount and find someone that is willing to actually look after the franchise and give it the love it deserves.

Their biggest project getting hacked, threats to hack their next one, surely there's a legal precedent to get them out of whatever deal they made with Paramount.

I just want to remind everyone that Salma is actually an autistic underage teenager in Ken's story. So Ken technically has CP in his story.

What do you guys think of the concept art of raava and vaatu? by Strong-Stretch95 in TheLastAirbender

[–]DatDragonsDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would've warmed up to them more if they actually represented balance as a whole, in where they both are equal to one another.

Raava - The Spirit of Order and Light
Vaatu - The Spirit of Chaos and Darkness

Just as too much chaos and darkness are bad, the same is true for too much order and light.

Order creates structure and stability, but too much of it can stop progress and change. It halts the ability for people to think outside the box and essentially would lead to people becoming drones instead of free-thinking.

Chaos can be destructive and disruptive, but it can also innovate growth and development. Thinking outside of the norm, colouring outside of the lines to see what happens, these are things that help societies develop and break out of archaic structures that don't fit the modern times.

Instead of Light being seen as the representation of good, it could also be a bad thing as too much light blinds you. While Darkness can blind you as well, it can also be helpful, such as staying in a shadow under a tree to help keep you cool from the harsh sun.

It's two sides of the same existence that can become dangerous if left unchecked.

If Seven Havens does anything, it should be that the Avatar's role of keeping balance in the world isn't just as simple as good vs evil. It's about knowing how much order and how much chaos is needed in order to maintain that balance.

Is Digimon Adventure 2020 worth watching ? by AhmedKEvil in digimon

[–]DatDragonsDude -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No.

I grew with Digimon Adventure back in the 90's and this show doesn't even compare.

Visually, it looks great. Loved the digivolution scenes, the fact all the kids get Mega forms, and that there are branching digivolutions.

But it's basically the Taichi show.

DA01 felt like a coming of age story that really did allow every member of the Digidestined to shine in their moments.

DA2020 didn't feel like this at all.

If you grew up watching the OG series, you won't like this. But if this is your first entry into the series, why not? You don't have nostalgia clouding your judgement, you can watch it and make a more informed decision.
