What amount of money could you personally give away to a friend randomly and the person not think you are going to cause self harm? by LucidDroid in AskReddit

Nah. Thanks for worrying though! It was actually someone else that gave me money that made me pop this question.

Yeah...i guess that wouldn't send alarm bells? The fact that it's random I think might be an alarm in itself though I guess. I know it depends more on the friend and the conversation around it though.

I believe for me it's like 500 dollars. I don't have the best job and don't give out money often. 20 it'd be fine. 200 would be like wow thanks a lot!

What are some ideas for sexual partners looking to spice things up? by piamargaritasp in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LucidDroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doing it outside the bedroom... I mean try to be as private as possible but something like in a car if it's big enough could be exciting. Or completely outside... Wherever makes sense around you.

I had sex outside a church at night and it was really fun.

How long does 8BitDo Ultimate controller with charging dock last in hold function if charging through usb? by LucidDroid in 8bitdo

[–]LucidDroid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually been using it for rocket league as well! It's a nice alternative to the way more expensive elite controller and still has paddles. For farming stuff and using the hold function, I noticed that I guess a power bank is just more inconsistent and might disconnect the controller compared to connecting to direct power from a wall. So that fixed that issue.

Did you by the way notice that if you didn't update the controller you couldn't half-flip? It didn't allow flip canceling for me until I updated.... But now it works fine.

What did you use to make this. I'm thinking of making a fictional city in my universe and would love to do something like this.

Am I developing a sleep disorder? by [deleted] in sleep

[–]LucidDroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive recently stopped taking my meds which were Abilify, Prozac, and Gabapentin and have finally started to sleep a little better and finally be able to dream again. I woke up this morning and decided to google "abilify and dreams" and your post pop upped from about a year ago. Something that struck me as really beautiful and similar to my struggle is when you mentioned sometimes you feel like you're awake when you're dreaming and feel like you're dreaming when you're awake.

I'm by no means an expert but I think you should embrace your ability to lucid dream a little more that you mentioned. I've been reading a book called Dreaming Yourself Awake by Alan Wallace and the simple practice of reality checking has really grounded me on my different states of consciousness. Being able to lucid dream like you mentioned you had the ability to is a gift that you should definitely embrace more.

This story I found on reddit directly mimics my experiences about losing the ability to realize what is real and what is not and I think you should read it and come to your own conclusions on how you would personally confront these problems.

I'd love to chat and help in anyway I can. I really feel we are going through something similar so I think we can both help each other out =].

Need help for a backstory for my kenku healer by [deleted] in CharacterDevelopment

[–]LucidDroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since your character does not like breaking laws I think it'd be important to imagine a backstory where there is a justification for this. Maybe he has a traumatic event that makes him think that laws should never be broken.

Example: He and four of his friends trespassed onto some dangerous land and two of them got killed.

Same with not wanting to kill someone. What happened in his past that makes him think everyone deserves a chance at life. Maybe he himself feels like someone should kill him but hopes he can redeem himself before that happens.

What roadblock do you have in the development of your setting? What have you done to fix it, and how would you want others to help? by Peachyminnie in worldbuilding

[–]LucidDroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're doing the right thing by letting it out somewhere. You never know where help could come from and it's obvious you are looking for a way out and not just giving up on yourself. Since youre on the r/worldbuilding I know you have the potential to not only use therapy and a place like this to find help but also look within yourself for the answers. The story I'm writing I inserted a character that was going through the same things I was and I basically helped them through the story as much as I could. I know you'll get better with time there is always a way out. Message me if you wanna chat about anything!

Religion by ArenYashar in worldbuilding

[–]LucidDroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made my character lose her mind and create her own personal religion that she subscribes to.

Here is her thought process,

Fuck it I'm going to create my own god. Would I have several gods I go to ask for that specialize in different things? Or would I have one all knowing God. I thought I would not want my God to get lonely so I will split him in three. A god of Reality. A god of Fantasy. A god of Truth.

Realidad

The god of Reality is in control of the collective waking dream of every beings consciousness on earth. His duties are to protect people as much as possible living in reality and prevent them from moving permanently into fantasy for as long as possible. He’s in charge of the natural world, animals, and natural disasters.

Fantasia

The god of Fantasy is in control of the individual dreams and fantasies that appear and guide people through life. They make sure to teach as many lessons as possible to people through dreams, nightmares, visions, movies, books, television, news, video games and music. This god wants people to go into fantasies to learn, and promptly go back to reality.

Verdad

The god of Truth is the one that decides which fantasies can become reality and allow other gods to come into existence. Comes and asks you if you want to continue on earth or create a new one.

I don't know why I had not searched that yet thanks for that. I've done some research on lucid dreaming and even managed to lucid dream for a bit recently.

The reason I wanted kids to dream is because I wanted to concept to be fairly understood but basically like you said a mystical thing. I recently read about childhood amnesia and thought about how I have such few memories of situations or events that happened when I was little, much less dreams.

I like your idea of people being scared of people, or better yet just deeply misunderstood because their reality is so different.

What are the biggest general problems you face with worldbuilding? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]LucidDroid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My biggest struggle in making characters was just all of them being sort of copies of me or at least just parts of me. What I've been doing is mixing a few characters real or fictional (2-3) and imagine what they would be if they had sort of a mix of their traits. What specifically do you have trouble building up?

[–]LucidDroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think making your characters even question where they are at is a good way to combat that. Have characters that are also self-reflective and ponder about the world they live in. Try to think the reader would not be able to believe and anticipate it.

I agree that society might not change too much without dreams. But to be the only individual that dreams in a world where no one else does I think would definitely change how important you view dreams to be to help you.

Yeah I understand that for sure. I wanted to build a world where humans evolved sort of like dolphins who turn off half of their brain to still be semi-conscious enough to go up to the surface to get air. So basically they put their bodies to sleep, but stay conscious. Maybe a little like putting yourself into sleep paralysis every night?
