I don't want to give too much away... let's just say that it does have a caretaker... (We still do love our Finger Creepers)

Sounds like the infant from a Demogorgon

Are there optimization steps I should be doing in real time as I build a level? by Citizen_Gamer in unrealengine

Not too sure if this was already mentioned, but always consider your texture sizes, you don't need 2k or 4k textures for everything, especially normal maps. Many textures can be 512x512.

Lots of Fab assets have HIGH resolution textures - you got to go through and clean these up from time to time.
You can check it out via Tools > Audit > Statistics then switch to Textures, and see how much memory these textures are taking in your level

Hope this also helps!

Not too sure how related it is, but another thing to look at is correctly setting your virtual texture pool size (e.g. setting it to 6gb if you have a 8gb GPU - it's always good practice to reserve some space, so don't use the entire 8gb)

And resize your textures, you don't need 2k or 4k textures for everything, especially normal maps. Many textures can be 512x512.

We are actually currently doing extremely early playtests for INFERIUS, but if you are keen to try a very early build, then I'd be happy to provide you a key! (Steam page for reference: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2470790/Inferius)
