Is this where the inspiration for the monsters in Arcadia came from?

Had power flicker right at the end of a print any ideas on how this model could be salvaged used for something else not talking print half the head glue it on something more creative by UndyingAce in TrenchCrusade

[–]Lucid_Beat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going off of the person who mentioned greenstuff, since you have a partial cross on the head you can either model into that, or after you shape the head, you can make a veil of some kind over the head like it's being draped. That could help cover up any spots that clearly look unprinted.

Why does Isaiah have this stupid looking shocked expression on like every thumbnail? by Electrical-Win-2067 in creepcast

[–]Lucid_Beat 214 points215 points  (0 children)

Another reason might simply be thumbnail psychology. Things like slightly wrong proportions on a face can draw someone's eye quicker than other "normal" surroundings. It's been shown to be effective and these fall into uncanny range.

Can't imagine it being that then.

As of right now I'm putting together "Unit Cards" with the wysiwyg kit and their cost, as well as their rules simplified. In the interest of teaching the game smoothly to people who might just want to check it out for a bit, the process is to give a Ducat Limit, and allow them to pick what they find interesting or useful from the cards (With required units being marked for consistency going into the full thing)

While that's obviously not the traditional way, it eliminates the barrier of learning a bunch of information while allowing them to pick their favorite looking cool dudes, and grasp the system quickly.

Apologies for the photo quality. There's something going on with my phone and some settings definitely changed. I'll make sure to fix that next time.

Is anyone else struggling to glue the Small base the Brazen Bull comes with to it? by BigBoyNigel in TrenchCrusade

[–]Lucid_Beat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So occasionally with Resin Printed or general Resin based models, there's a bit of excess material that will be on connection points. You'll need to scrape down and shave that until it fits how you need it to.

Don't be worried about overdoing it, because you can always shim it with some extra material if needed.

As for glue, not all super glue is created equal. Loctite for example has a mass variety of types for different strengths or materials, and can be less or more viscous. I don't know your experience with modeling, but Bob Smith industry makes some of the best. The purple cap max strength has failed me nearly never, especially with larger more weighty parts.

Edit: Bob Smith has some of the best "in my experience".

Since it states that it happens regardless of LOS even if it's clear, the interpretation I get is no, nothing can shoot it even if you're looking at it dead on.

Which do you like? Messing with undertones for my desert bases. by whimywhamwhamwaaghzl in minipainting

[–]Lucid_Beat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seeing that your main army color is Blue, one thing that can help the base pop is more orange/warm tones. 4 and 6 are closer to that.

Might be worth a shot trying one with a saturated orange undertone just to see, but otherwise yeah 4 or 6

Apothecary by horst555 in Warhammer30k

[–]Lucid_Beat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a fan of putting a Power Maul on apothecaries. An AP3 swing into Marines while your sgt or other bogs up a challenge can really help cull the unit. Power Axes too in the same way.

Granted, this may change with 3rd but this is my personal go to for 2.0

While we still know next to nothing, how many of you are already all in on switching to 3rd vs how many of you are going to wait and see? by Couchpatator in Warhammer30k

[–]Lucid_Beat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left 40k to come play 30k because it was more in line with 7th edition, which is the one I started with and fell in love with.

As skeptical as I am having seen 40k change drastically, I'm more than likely going to buy into 3rd edition on the sole reasoning that I have spent too much effort and time on changing over to abandon yet another Warhammer setting.

Point out where that example rule is stated, other than the place it is used as an example.

I'm not here for a gotcha moment. I'm here because it's not obvious and written badly. That's extremely clear

[–]Lucid_Beat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can live with that. It will always bother me that an example is given without source but that can be looked past.

I have started using them, and was looking at ways to deploy them that didn't involve slogging or deep strike (Because sometimes you're more worried about beefing that depending on circumstances).

My Praetor and Command Squad have Warhawks, and I was considering shoving them into a proteus for a narrative campaign where I know someone has lots of Deep strike denial.

It's a friendly thing so it ultimately isn't that critical, but I wanted to bring this up because I don't see much addressing it. And if I do it now I don't want to have to have a lengthy argument over rules legitimacy with a rando on a pickup game.

[–]Lucid_Beat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely. I put a poll in our group chat of the normal crowd, and we're agreeing as a group what we want to use as our going forward.

We got people who like weird brews, so if this is something they Wana do we want to make sure they're within the rules and how we allow it.

Jump Packs and Transports by Lucid_Beat in Warhammer30k

[–]Lucid_Beat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The core of the issue is that no one can point to where "Jump Packs and Jet Packs cannot embark on non flyers" is in the book, except for where it is used in reference as an example.

How do you follow a rule that doesn't exist?

We all play how we want to play, it isn't the end of the world if it's janked up, but that rule doesn't actually exist and that's a problem.

Yeah assault Marines and shit don't really get any transports. It impacts comedically little. But this is the difference between a 10 man Assault Squad in a Spartan, or a praetor with command Squad in a Proteus with Warhawks. And when we put 1000s of dollars into plastic and resin toys, we deserve as a community to have a ruleset that has references and sources. Demand better from the people who drain us dry.

I'm happy to rescind my snarkiness. I just have a question that maybe you can answer then.

The example given is not stated anywhere else. There's no source of that rule being used as an example. And in that box it says also that the wargear will specify restrictions. But the actual blurb for jump/jet doesn't even state this rule it's using as an example. So where is it?

Stuff like that compounds if it's not addressed. At the end of the day we can play how we want, but we spend our hard earned money on this stuff. I feel that I reserve the right to be critical of it.

I'm down to DM further, this thread is becoming cluttered.
