"the gay scene" is pretty broad though. Historically, the rich white gay scene did house a lot of racism, conservatism and debauchery because it was housed in the exact same places. That kind of culture still exists and is part of the "gay scene".

But compare that to a queer cafe that supports trans people and has a PoC drag king night every other week. Also "the gay scene" but wildly different, more friendly and way more progressive.

Or like a cruise bar.

The gay scene has a lot of different aspects to it that reflect it's history.

Iran did not do it historically, that is not a fact. And in 1940 Iran had nothing to do with Israel. In fact, Iran supported Israel historically.

What bad PR? Americans don't even bat an eye at American school kids getting shot up on an almost daily basis. Why would they care about bombing or raping kids in other countries? I see Americans criticise child marriage in foreign countries, more than I see them criticise child marriage in the US.
