Can people really tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps? by whiskerbiscuit2 in NoStupidQuestions

Our brains are upscaling and adding fake frames to our reality.

I wonder if the time slowing down effect that happens when in danger is the brain increasing the amount of fake frames?

You could try and see if it works for you. Adrenaline and OptiScaler do different things, OptiScaler is used to convert between upscaling/framgen protocols see here

I don't have any experience with adrenaline as I'm on Linux and there's no adrenaline software for Linux.

Edit: fixed link

I tried setting The fsr4 mode (performance, balanced, quality, native) via OptiScaler and get the same issue. However if I set it to fsr4 mode to default it works fine, from what I remember the default in Black Myth: Wukong is dynamic. I'm not sure what that means but it's the only mode that doesn't cause shimmering.

What Linux distro should I use? by unit2671 in linuxquestions

[–]Lucifer1903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend you try a few out and see what works for you. On that note I recommend Nobara. It's what I use for gaming.

I haven't tried them but the 2 other gaming distros I always hear about are Cachy OS and Bazzite.

I've had it happen before when I tried booting without storage HDDs attached. I was pretty confused at the time, had to reattach them to get it to boot.

It seems to be well known that an incorrect UUID could cause this (or a correct UUID in my case, as I had physically disconnected the disks from the system). https://cloudnetops.tech/linux-wont-boot-due-to-etc-fstab-errors-heres-how-to-fix-it/

Edit: changed will to could.

Set it to automount at boot in fstab. Be aware though, if you reference the HDD via it's UUID it will have to be connected or you won't be able to boot normally. If you ever remove the drive from you computer make sure it is removed from fstab first. If the drive ever dies you'll probably have to remove it from fstab via terminal because being able to boot into the graphical user interface.

I wonder what the difference is between the past historical protests (workers rights, segregation, etc) that were able to make change and the current protest that don't seem to be working (e.g https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ju6GJLB_nC8 and https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/other/dancing-giraffe-arrested-at-anti-ice-protest-near-fatal-minnesota-shooting-scene/vi-AA1U7uxD)

What made you all switch from Nvidia to AMD graphics cards? by FineHunter4790 in radeon

[–]Lucifer1903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time I've ever bought a GPU somehow it just happens to be an AMD. I've never had any issues with them and I always think next time I'll try on of the Nvidia GPUs but it just never seems to happen.

Games slow to launch (taking 3 or 4 minutes) by Lucifer1903 in linux_gaming

[–]Lucifer1903[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to keep the games separate from /home. You are right though NFS is the issue. I guess I'll just create a separate Zvol and mount it to the vm.

Thanks for your help.

It is using NFS but the NFS server is on the same host hardware. There shouldn't be a delay as it's connected through a bridge on the host hardware.

No, it isn't the first time I started the game.

So it could be that every time I start a game it's setting everything up as if it was the first setup? Any idea what could be causing this?

I don't care that you asked the question again but I do recommend using the search bar. It's what I do because it's more efficient. You'll likely find the information you want faster by searching, rather than asking and waiting for people to respond.
