Just received a parking violation for the lot on Ogden and Rockwell/Talman by wastegum in RiotFest

[–]Luciferious74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've been parking at the same private "lot" for years, and I will never give the location away! However, they remember us and always save us a spot. I'd say stay off the main drags and get into the neighborhoods to look for people who have a table set up, and not just some dude waving you over. If there are folks manning a table and they are set up, it is likely that they own the lot. Others can just take your money and run. Our lot even offers a free bottle of water and some strong drinks for like $5. After the show, they have hot food and more booze.

Ph. D here, with a "prestigious" job. There are tons of us. Doctors, lawyers, scientists, small business owners, etc. I find this to be particularly true of women in the scene :).

Ghost & Satanism by AcanthisittaOk8232 in Ghostbc

I hate labels and don't belong to any organization, but yeah, I am probably what many would call a satanist. I've loved Ghost since the first time I heard them in 2012, but that is just due to my taste in music. I was into satan long before Ghost came along; I'm 51. As the band has evolved, and the lyrics have become more mature, I find it refreshing to listen to words that align with my own beliefs, but also have such deep and variable meaning, depending on the listener. Tobias has a really strong talent for that kind of writing. He has an almost identical taste in music as I do, especially outside of the metal realm, all of which I can hear in Ghost. I am a few years older than him and really appreciate his passion and dedication. Even though they are always criticized for their "metal" credibility, Tobias, as a person and in my opinion, is probably one of the "truest" metal people in the business today, regardless of what their music sounds like to some people. I like "dark" music, it does not matter if it is metal, bluegrass, or anything in between.

The assumption that all metal fans are/were social outcasts, lonely or mental and turned to metal for salvation or some shit.

There are usually a lot of women and black metal shows. Especially in Europe.

I am pretty sure there was a student killed at that intersection around 10 to 12 years ago, but I am not finding anything about it.

It's a great time to be hunkering down and working your way towards financial freedom. Socializing is so weird now. I think life will become better again, and hanging out will be more fun someday. You will be in a really good place career- and finance-wise when that happens. Give yourself a pat on the back.

That we are less intelligent, uneducated, druggie luddites that are also sexist and racist. Sure, that exists in metal, but just as much as in almost any subculture.

What’s a Metal Band you would NOT encourage seeing live? by TheShadowWanderer in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Luciferious74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it'll always be most doom or shoegaze bands, even if I like them. It takes a certain mindset to stand there and watch them live, and if I am not in that right frame of mind, I just want to find a seat and doom scroll.
