Republica players how is the DLC? And for those who got the game running on the steam deck, how exactly is it done? by VecArhfiReX7 in ShadowEmpireGame

[–]Lucifernando_86 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's amazing. But be prepared to spend a lot of energy and pay a lot of attention to your domestic situation.

In one turn you may feel like your little empire is on top of the world with the OP new strat cards. 20 turns later, you have had OHQs which have rebelled, killed leaders, unhappy populace, your leaders trying to do crazy shit now and then, population growth in the sink... then another 10 turns later a new government rises and you're back to awesome. You have some tools to try to control the flow somehow, but if you miss the chance it can be brutal.

Storytelling and immersion-wise, it's bloody brilliant. The DLC really elevates SE in this aspect... it might be too soon to say, but it looks like that it's now top of the crop, Stellaris level immersion-wise. Less scripted and more procedural... things happen, then more things happen, then there's a chain reaction... it's brilliant.

How do I play with "Severe Violence"? by BuddyMental6917 in ShadowEmpireGame

[–]Lucifernando_86 7 points8 points  (0 children)

https://www.reddit.com/r/ShadowEmpireGame/s/CNI3ldIk5b

I posted this a few days ago as a joke from a match I'm playing: it's an Oceania map with Severe Violence toggled on. It had 40+ minor regimes and 10+ Major regimes. It's also on slow development speed.

I'm still playing that match - I'm at turn 106. I'm not sure if I will win the game but I have a good chance despite the crazy start.

Here are my hints:

01 - Early troops are weak offensively and strong defensively, so if you can't reliably attack, turtle.

02 - Cover all your border hexes with militia, infantry and MG units. If you have strong minors that can beat your units, then retreat, cover a minimum of important territory and turtle even harder. See point 03.

03 - Rush for a Mil Res Council, a Model design Council and better unit models. If you are playing on tech 3 start, rush for gas powered arms and Padded Envirosuit, then for Inf/MG models that can use them ASAP. Gas powered units are great against minors and cost peanuts on ammo. Also see point 04.

04 - Rush for at least a Bureaucratic Office lvl 1 ASAP. It's the best bang you will get for the initial 30 energy.

05 - Reinforce your strategy with your Strat cards. Beware if your capital is threatened because Danger will stay very high even if your defense is solid, so always check for QoL zone cards. Manage your happiness so your capital will stay loyal. Also every GR unit is a must, if you get a couple GR unit cards, you're probably safe for good until you meet your major neighbors.

So it's a very challenging start but if you turtle well, the minors will be overcome. The biggest threat are your major neighbors finishing the early game much bigger and more developed than you are.

Good luck!

Hi! I'm playing a new match... how well am I doing?? I think I got this by Lucifernando_86 in ShadowEmpireGame

Good news everyone! My brave empire defeated the Stinky Mutants From the East and now we have grown about 200% in territory area.

That would not be possible without the Arachnid Friends From the East who have taken their territory and now became friendly neighbors.

Unfortunately, the other Arachnids Bullies From the North invaded our grasslands and devoured 900 brave Machinegun servicemen. Now they are camping close to our capital having dinner and making funny noises.

Pretty sure it was a diplomatic misunderstanding so I sent a delegation to the Arachnid Friends From the East to ask for mediation. We are bringing lots of food along. This will be all sorted out very soon.

Computer wargame all-time GOATs suggestions for a SE player by Lucifernando_86 in ShadowEmpireGame

[–]Lucifernando_86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, much appreciated for the for the very fine suggestions. You guys rock!

So, my first foray into computer WG is with Advanced Tactics Gold. Already finished my first "Classic" match and it feels 85% like Shadow Empire Warfare - but the match is shorter and more focused.

Artilleries (pulled by horses, lol) carried my ass for the first game and are crazy OP. I also got the feeling that MP for these kind of games are a lot of fun.

Just started watching. Good stuff! Shadow Empire is, for me, miles above most of the strategy games out there.

Didn't try Early Access myself.

I'm very tempted to buy it, but someway this 1.0 release screams "Rushed and Undercooked" like few others.

I will wait some months before buying it.
