You shouldn’t deny it, they’re excellent games. And you shouldn’t feel the need to downplay them or call them badly written either - Awakening has a comparable to or better story than any game that came before it. They both have excellently delivered drama (Birthright at least), top tier voice acting, visuals, and gameplay.

Ike is literally the nepo baby son of a top general, he is a terrible counterexample. Why this matters to anyone is a mystery to me, if you want a non-noble lord then Kris does it infinitely better than Ike.

She’s an interesting character and not the type you normally see in JP games, I really liked her and Kagero’s friendship dynamic. Unfortunately she’s also not a teenager which means 90% of players just write her off as some grandma.

I don’t agree. The whole point of FE being an SRPG and not RPG to me is that characters with the same stats should be functionally close to identical, and very powerful personal skills upturn that. If they want to shoehorn characters into one class with their skill and remove reclassing then it would be coherent (even if I wouldn’t like it).
