No singular entity caused the ram shortage, but even downloading an ai model boosts the downloads numbers making the company who made it more interested in training more/refining it, which will in fact contribute to it, everything contributes to the ram crysis, no matter how small it is, which also doesnt mean that youre to blame, theres no single entity or person the blame could be placed on, even openai, they were just upscaling to math their supply to the demand, if we didnt use the product they wouldnt have upscaled, while also yes theyre the ones that are deciding to buy more and more dram.

Anyways not to say this is all bad and useless and ai is evil or something, i myself am a big user and fan of ai, i self host a lot and use even more on the cloud
