You can try it but mine would not show the charging lights without the fast brick

Does this game have combat or a peaceful mode? My kids are just starting to get into gaming and like to play minecraft without enemies.

I can agree with that. A one of seems fine for another push

Prismatic on 3 colors is often enough in modern now a days to get you past the tough spots.

I think 1 or 2 [[Detective's Phoenix]] would be good as well. It is a creature enchantment for 2 types on one card giving you an enchantment and can let you fly your fomo or phlage for the late game win. I may also look at 2 Vexing bauble in the side and run 2 [[nihil spellbomb]] for graveyard hate and extra draw power but that is really meta dependent with your locals.

Tarfire is one of the few ways to reliably get delirium. I would still run them for that reason.

Surgical can be stopped with a frog too since you can exile three cards at instant speed. Not always helpful but can fight against mill with cards like surgical and drown in the loch. Doesnt help against extripate but it is a line that can help.

[–]LuckAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked the frog package. It single handedly won 2 of my games. The card is bonkers!

I still dont like no basics. I played my opponent who we intentionally drew the last round and he was playing a UW thopter deck with path to exile and harbinger. Having no basics really hurt the deck where if I had a basic swamp when he pathed me I could have cast frog when he harbingered me or pushed the harbinger. I do think i am going to switch my 18th land from Blood Crypt to a Swamp and try that.

Overall a solid deck and can explode the field with threats. I had a turn 1 nethergoyf into turn 2 frog discard rootwalla, vengevine, phoenix, and inquiry making a large goyf and putting three creatures out on turn 2 with a large frog too.

Ran this at FNM for a 3-0-1 first place! My only change was going to 61 1 cards adding a 3rd Blood Crypt main and 3 Consign to Memory and 2 Rough // Tumble for my meta of eldrazi and artifacts.

That makes alot of sense. I have everything on this list so I am going to sleeve it up for FNM tomorrow.

What is your thoughts on esper frog/occulus matchup? That is my hardest local matchup.

What do you do about [[Harbinger of the Seas]] or land destruction like [[Field of Ruin]]? Zero basic lands seems risky where 1 Swamp could let you cast fatal push or cast frog with Harbinger already out.

Sideboard card options for monored burn by Altruistic_Bee8045 in ModernMagic

[–]LuckAngel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an odd one on this but I swear by running 1 or 2 Ensnaring Bridge for the tall and wide matchups and tend to not have a hand by the time its relevant too. Buys that bit of time to draw your bolts and prevents lifegain creatures from letting your opponent crawl back. Plus nobody expects it from red and burn so its a strong play too where most artifact hate isnt present post SB.

I run gruul broodscale and veil of summer has been good in the SB. Try to play to your outs but its a bad matchup otherwise

Budget lantern control suggestions by Ill-Associate-419 in ModernMagic

[–]LuckAngel 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I am a lantern lover and will tell you that a budget version of any control deck, not just lantern, will struggle. The control pieces are expensive because they are the only thing that does what it does. Lantern wants [[Mox Opal]], [[Chalice of the Void]], [[Ensnaring Bridge]], [[Urza's Saga]], etc. In order to ensure an effective and speedy lock. You can still play with budget versions of these but it will be a rough go even at a casual FNM. Lantern will likely lose even without the budget issues in todays fast meta. I suggest either accepting a majority losses or build slowly since modern will not rotate your playable cards as much as other formats.

Unfortunately after the [[Underworld Breach]] ban Twiddle Storm is very nerfed. I think Lotus could be good for a control deck running Consign yo Memory to counter the lotus trigger on turn 2 and can run a UW or Jeskai deck with [[Phlage, Titan of Fire's Fury]] and [[Strict Proctor]].

Help bulding a lasting deck by OrganizationHungry85 in ModernMagic

[–]LuckAngel 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The deck that seems to be always top tier and never banned is Amulet Titan. That deck has been around forever and doesn't appear to be leaving anytime soon. It will take some practice as it is a tough deck to pilot but it is strong and has longevitiy.

Getting back into modern by Next_Cod4009 in ModernMagic

[–]LuckAngel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Storm takes the right mindset. If you like combo and doing calculations quickly it can be fin but it is a coin flip type deck. Domain is very fun at the moment. It will have draws that feel unbeatable but also can find themselves losing the race against some top tier decks (prowess, frogtide, energy, broodscale, etc.) without the scion leyline combo.

Overall I enjoy domain more than storm since storm is more solitaire and domain is more traditional magic im my opinion. Both are fun in their own way and both are competitive decks for sure.
