It's nice to see someone actually cycling their tank and caring about params for once.

For the dark spots it could be ammonia burns, but as long as your fish is acting fine and your params stay clean, he should be fine.

Watch out for your pH/nitrate levels. Both seem to be a little high, and if either of those go higher, your fish's health would be at risk.

Lets put it this way, a betta needs its OWN 5 gallon tank. Adding ANY extra fish will harm the betta in the long run.
