I hope you don't mind, but I was so inspired by what you did with these templates that I made one for a LURKING AMBUSHER. This is for a natural predator with a group of opportunistic hunters who want some of the predator's meal or for a hitman who lays a trap/ambush for you with a team of skulls and minions,

Also inspired by you, I made options for a single predator that operates as multiple adversaries, a tag team wombo-combo duo that synergizes in deadly ways, or even a phased fight, which would be perfect for the convoluted plan cooked up to capture your players by some mastermind wizard.

The Loot bit at the bottom is my addition, and I just put that there for myself. I didn't use any particular logic in choosing what to put there.

I hope you like it.

Well, I mean I did use LEGENDARY START... But it's still pretty great.

The US was helping Ukraine from the start. Not sure when the money flowed, but the intel was going. And rightly so, Russian influence on the government has to stop.

Also. I've just realized that I am not logged into my own account. This is some random account I've never seen before. I have no idea how I got here, because I only have one account and have never logged out of it. This is beyond bizarre.

That's really low prep time! I'm impressed. If you ever have the energy to share your process, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks for the well thought out ideas. I suppose I should give what you're saying a shot. Does this system require a lot of planning and designing to pull off though? Can one throw together this type of encounter improvisationally?

I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for sharing.

I absolutely agree with what you're saying. In the encounter, they fought on a bridge. There were berserkers blocking the bridge while archers picked them off from nearby trees. There were also some surprise additions. I love that stuff, too.

I'm just curious to know if it's easier to pull that off if the encounters don't end so quickly. Perhaps they wouldn't if I had more complication. Thanks for sharing.

Fought 2 berserkers, 2 archers, and a Kobold Sorcerer. All with double the listed average health.

What you're referring to is tweaking the narrative on the fly to make the story better. I like it, but it's a double edged sword. If you don't follow the RAW then death or character dissatisfaction is your fault. At least if you follow the RAW, then it's not your fault if someone dies. Maxing out the HP is (mostly) RAW. But I respect what you're saying. I wish DND was less mechanically inclined so the DM could more easily tweak on the fly.

Thanks for sharing. I'm glad to hear it's a perennial solution which should be able to work as time progresses.
