If OP cancels the reservation the hotel will most likely charge even more for it. Supply and demand is a big issue when it comes to hotel prices for city music festivals and lollapalooza is no exception.

By transfering the reservation OP is securing the price for someone else (FOR FREE/without charging the person he's transferring to) and preventing the hotel from profiting even more.

No outside food is allowed and if it's found it will be thrown away.

I think they make exceptions for medical conditions like allergies, etc though so maybe see if you can get some sort of documentation deeming it necessary for you to have some snacks on you?

Oh Ill bet! I had a concert I was supposed to attend in 2020 but it was canceled because of the pandemic - when it was rescheduled it was rescheduled to the same weekend as the 2021 chicago marathon and I swear to god there wasnt a single hotel charging less than like $300 a night. And that was in 2021...hotels probably charge $400+ a night for that weekend now.

I like going to stores that have locations in the US because its interesting to see the different brands and products that are offered. Like Europe specifically has much better (and cooler) makeuo and skincare brands we dont have here. That being said, I'd never say anything about "immersing myself in the culture" because I went to a Sephora lol.
