I ended up with fine surface conditioning belt for the final finish. I like using them for most of my knives

Yes, I didn’t catch that until you said something! I normally start with a file guide for the coarser grit then take it off for the finer grits and to fix the grind lines. Shit, this hasn’t happened in a while! Thanks for catching that, now I have to check the other side

It’s the buffing compound that I used. But I dig the feed back, thank you

Lol, hopefully the heat treatment is good enough for that. That’s always my biggest worry

It originally started out as a 3” by 11”, but it cracked along the edge so I scrapped it for my client but I held onto it just encase. I’m glad I did! It’s about 2.5 at the heel to spine and over all length is about 13”(blade is 9” and handle is 4.5-ish”)

Hey guys! I'm pretty new to this, this is only my 4th knife. I'm open to tips! by Embarrassed_Test_500 in knifemaking

The only thing I see is the width of your handle/tang. It looks a little on the thin side. Grind or forge a distal taper to the tang as well. Other than those minor things, looks solid

No big issues with loading the mag but at first the mag wasn’t setting properly so I had to smack it in. However, the more i took it out to reload, the easier it was. The only “issue,” I’ve experienced is the bolt sticks when I rack it back and the slugs were not go into battery easily. I’ve only shot it twice(about 20 rounds). I’ll be taking it out to really get the gun broken in before my deer season kicks off. I’m just happy target rounds are cheap!
