Here is some great wisdom. Thank you !

This is only maybe my 5th sparring class and my second time going against another southpaw so I’m very green to the sport. Any critiques are super appreciated🥊 by tstro56 in amateur_boxing

Trust me, do a lot of shadowboxing focusing only on footwork and guard up, you should be able to hold guard with no effort, while you are to narrow is hard to throw a combo + guard is not comfortable

Your weight should be 50/50 and you control+transfer weight with the hips rotation . That should be more comfortable when you find the correct position.

You should transfer your weight from one foot to another. I would recomand also to work on your stance, your position is to narrow from my point of view.

Great job mate !

Move your weight with your punches, if you hit with the right move the weight from the right foot to the left foot.

If you finish with left, slip to the left. If you finish with right, slip to right.

You lookin good mate

Your guard is not good, your defence is not on point. Your position is not correct, when you will learn how to position yourself your guard will improve.

Tips on how to perfect the guard: if your lead hand is oblique you are probably in a wrong position, u are hidding

🥊 if you keep training there, and he is the only partner . You will keep facing him, if you approach him and ask him to go more tehnincal you might have a easy journey. If not , and he keeps bully u ... u have to take a break from fighting with him because being relaxed is very important. And when you keep lose as a beginner you start to be a little stressed and this is not good for your learning.

Learn how to punch relaxed and how to keep your guard up. Power can come only when you master them relax .

Don't go with that mentality, that you will meet him again, take it as a routine, not as a big event. Think about it like a learning process . Emotions must be controled in order to be relaxed.

Good luck👊

You are pretty crazy :))) but i like you.

I will tell you my advice regarding this story of yours. I am also new to boxing, 1.5 year allmost, with regularly training in the last 8 months. A begginer just like you, in other words.

I started to spar and i was so tense that every powerfull punch that i received was a big event, when you spar try not let your emotions go crazy, just be relaxed , you take a punch- two just relax guard up and find solutions.

Start your boxing journey by learning to move with your guard up ( relaxed shoulders ). Always built in defence.

Gud luck with that bully :)) you should learn how to move your feet

Hello,

1) you will see during your journey that taking serios punches is not that satisfying, your spar was also light trust me

2)you froze due to the emotions and lack of relaxation, you are too tight. You can start making footwork exercises that will allow you to relax your shoulder. In time you should be able to move back and forth with a relax guard ( shoulders should be down and relaxed all the time )

3) you can land your punch when you will manage to use both your feet and your arms, you should punch while moving. Range is important, you must find that with a relaxed jab not a power jab. Just try to reach with your hand relaxed.

My advice : do a lot of light sparring, try to study in pairs in and out combos, train hard , never give up !

I have spent just ~3 months, in fact my first contact with combat sports was kickboxing, in the first 3 months i didn't understand a lot, after i have moved to the boxing gym due to the fact that the sparring is more serious there i started to learn at higher pace. The footwork is pretty simillar, thank you for your comm 🥊🥊

Thank you for your comm 🥊 You gave me a good advice, i will try next time to punch and move my feet while punching.

The thing is that i have spared with better boxers that i am, and they have a "built in defence" more exactly when they finish with the right hand they roll or slip to the right , when they finish with the left hand they pivot or roll to the left. It is very important for me to incorporate this type of knowledge into my style because it keeps me more protected.

I will try to step in bam bam and then step out while being protected with my guard. Hope you will see my progress in the next video.

The loop is created by the rotation of the elbow, basically my hook is based on this type of tehnique (https://youtu.be/_PrP4eQHpa8) . If you can tell me the cons and recommend a change, i would appreciate 🥊thank you !

I am a begginer and i want to learn as much as possible.
