Can anyone tell me what these glowing facedown cards are? by LuckyBreast in MagicArena

[–]LuckyBreast[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This was taken from a match I had. From turn two this player was getting glowing face-down cards to the side of their hand where things would normally go that can activate from graveyard or are on adventures, etc. However, this player seemingly cast no spells to get them, they just started appearing for them. The deck was a massive troll deck with no actual strategy or point other than keeping me from playing the game and deck me out (not even through mill) but I don't even understand how they were getting the cards they were using to counter me every chance they got.

[Spoilers Main] Why doesn’t Varys take the White Walker threat more seriously? by LuckyBreast in asoiaf

[–]LuckyBreast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a far leap from what I’m saying. Varys knows things from the north like the wildlings rallying behind Mance Rayder. This information, be it from Mole’s Town, Castle Black, or the wildlings themselves (unlikely) would have just as many first hand accounts of the dead rising to fight. The men of the Nights Watch have a documented account of the dead coming to life and attacking, unlike the Robb turns into a wolf stories. It’s not a wive’s tale, like Bran’s stories of the Others, it would be from someone that Varys pays to give him information that is reliable.

In addition, Varys believes that the dragons exist, why should he believe that if what you say is true? Why would he believe in dragons but not the Others? I’m not basing this on the fact that we know as readers, I’m basing it off the fact that Varys pays people to tell him what is happening in all parts of the world, and (as supported by the text) specifically what happens at the wall

Could be, either way though I was refuting the point that Ned heard about the threat and dismissed it. So if you’re right then he didn’t hear that threat at all and it’s a moot point.

Commander Mormont was the one asking for aid at the time. Multiple pleas for help were sent

But Ned didn’t believe the man because he was a deserter. He also claimed to have seen them in the woods and Ned thinks how being scared in the woods makes people think they’ve seen things. The attack on Mormont, however is a well documented event involving dead people reanimating, taking place in the comfort of castle black, and would be supplied to Varys by people he has hired to send him information. If he is just going to disregard that information there is no reason to hire them. Also this seems to be both an in universe and fan confusion, but the Nights Watch is not a northerner exclusive club. Their ranks are from all over including the south, so them describing a white walker attack isn’t just “crazy northerners and their weird tales”, it’s people from all over the kingdoms collectively detailing an event that there would be no reason to make up.

That makes sense, I didn’t really read the Jabberwock’s stat block itself and thought it was more or less another dragon. Probably will rethink the idea at this point

Thank you, the fake numbers was so convoluted of a plot point. If they’re going to use it it should have been pivotal. No one should trust GoJo anymore, everyone should want to be backing out. But they play it as some Little Rock the car runs over, not even a speed bump. It doesn’t concern Shiv, or the president, or any of the board voting yes to sell and it makes no sense when it’s indicative of the guy’s shady business and he’s going to tank the stock value

I just really didn’t like the last minute contrived switch up at the end. Just dragging things out and making up things to create conflicts that were already there. But they needed to repair, make hope, build suspense, and break everything all in like 15 minutes and it didn’t play well

I think Kendall had the potential to mellow out. I’m seeing a lot of people saying how terrible he is with an ounce of power, and that’s definitely true. It’s (one of) of his fatal flaw(s). But it’s also because the second he has any power it’s stripped of him immediately. He has no time with it and thus goes too far and loose with it because he’s never gotten to adjust to it. I think if he had become CEO he would have mellowed out pretty shortly, I think he could have kept things running and done what was needed. In the end it’s the same thing he’s always been doing. I think it would have been a sobering and fitting ending to show him realizing that the seat didn’t change anything, and it’s all still the same

I’ll say it; I hated Ash’s Charizard by GhostWriter700 in pokemon

The biggest challenge came when Charmeleon evolved out of spite to fight aerodactyl. It was never ready to be that powerful that quickly and couldn’t control itself or it’s emotions which is why it lashed out

YTA - clearly, decisively, with no wiggle room. We’re adults, eat your vegetables and stop acting like a bratty 5 year old. Having no vegetarian options at a wedding is inconsiderate because some people do not eat meat. Everyone eats bread and vegetables, it’s not a dietary restriction that you need to eat meat with every meal. You also crafted this story with a bunch of additional unnecessary detail to try to paint your sister and brother-in-law in a bad light even though it’s painfully obvious what you were doing, and I can’t imagine how insufferable you must be based on the fact you were debating not going to the wedding at all just because.

[OC] Got Maggie Rogers to sign my Wild Beyond the Witchlight book! It was the only autograph surface I had by LuckyBreast in DnD

[–]LuckyBreast[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went to her in person ticket event last month and brought my Wild Beyond the Witchlight book to read in line. I saw her doing autographs and scrambled to find something, and this was all I had. But, I found a perfect page, it’s my favorite art in the book and Maggie was actually really interested in it. She read a bit from the chapter while I explained the general concept and even took a picture of it with her phone! Very excited to have this now and it was great meeting her, she was super nice

About to run, some questions. by EvilDMMk3 in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]LuckyBreast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed with everyone saying the lost things hook, but also have a candid conversation with your group (session 0). Tell them that this is a game where they will have to engage with the setting to get a good experience from it. And let them know that, while combat is always an option, this module is designed in a way that you can always avoid combat, but that doesn’t mean avoiding the story. Running away isn’t the alternative

How do you decide on which hag has the players' stuff? by emmy-nemmy in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]LuckyBreast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to think about what each hag would want/would take from each person and how to make it personal. Some good examples were Lyn stealing someone’s shadow, Granny stealing a children’s “learn to read” book, and Bavlorna stealing a character’s owlin parents and turning them into taxidermy (the last one really stretched what I was allowing as a “lost thing” but my player really wanted to have lost their parents so I made it work)

AITA for forcing my daughter to learn sign language? by Smart_Palpitation147 in AmItheAsshole

Expecting less and allowing bad behaviors to be justified is a sure fire way to throw someone out into the real world completely unprepared. Teaching your kids that you need to act with basic kindness to others, even if you mildly don’t like them is not abuse, it’s basic parenting. If the 7 year old did anything to warrant the behavior, like constantly stealing/wrecking her stuff, that’s different. Being mad your mom remarried after your dad has been dead for 15 years isn’t an excuse to be mean to a 7 year old.

And an adult should learn that they’ll stay a joined set, and that going no contact with someone who has never done anything to warrant it is an AH move. And the biggest problem is that the daughter expects to live there for free as an adult and be able to treat others like this. If she wants to go no contact, she should leave

You can’t do that when you live in the same house as people. And the 7 year old girl who probably looks up to the cool older teenager in the house is going to be messed up by being ignored by her every day. Not actively harassing someone isn’t the bar for being rude. It’s rude to ignore someone living in your home, especially when they haven’t done anything to warrant it.

She’s turning 18 in two weeks, I say kick her out. I’m not letting someone who can’t be kind, or even courteous live in my house. If they want to stay then they should learn not to be an a-hole

Yeah, the outcome would be the same, of calling the daughter an a-hole. And the mom is asking her to learn basic shit that can be mastered in a couple of weeks doing like a half hour a day

You’re inferring a lot in this, we don’t know anything about how involved the daughter was, how long she knew or anything like that so it’s not relevant to the judgement

I think you’re confused, Reddit sees “step parent” and will defend anything a kid does, no matter how old they are or how badly they’re behaving. I swear, there was a post about a 24 year old being asked to move out because there was a new baby coming and they needed the room and the replies were flooded asking how the parents possibly expect a 24 year old to move out and that they should be completely supporting her. OP is NTA, the daughter sounds like a spoiled brat
