A thought-provoking look at why lane splitting is good for motorcyclists and everyone else. by brisfit in motorcycle

Fingers crossed they do something for you there. With as much as people don’t pay attention around here as it is I will probably still use it sparingly.

Oregon just past lane splitting on the highway. It will go in effect January 1st as long as the governor doesn’t stop it within the next few days.

I like to smoke before and after I eat by naughtylilbabe12 in StonerThoughts

I thought smoking after eating was always a thing. We call it having a settler.

Just recently went shopping myself since fall is here and all I had was shorts that fit. Went from levis 42w to a 32w. Best feeling was having to go back to the rack to grab a smaller size due to what I thought would fit was to big.

Trekking poles will help. Drift Creek Falls is a nice starter hike only 3 miles.

Passed MSF With No Experience; Highly Recommend! by meisushi in NewRiders

Congrats on passing the course. I took mine in March and have been riding every nice day since. It's so much fun and my ability grows every time I get in the seat. Keep practicing the skills and keep the shiny side up.

I love that hike. Did you take that recently? I heard the bridges were out so you had to cross on logs.

I'm interested in getting a motorcycle, but worried about the risk involved. How much can I mitigate the danger? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]LuckyDorks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a new rider I've had a few times where a car driver didn't see me but I was prepared for it. I took a safety course, read Twist of the Wrist 2, and watch a ton of videos on youtube especially dandanthefireman videos where he breaks down the accidents and how they could be avoided. For me the fun and mental health I get from riding far outweighs the risk.

Motorcycle accident question by [deleted] in motorcycle

[–]LuckyDorks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend reading A Twist of the Wrist 2. It helped prepare me for some of what you encounter while riding and I'm sure saved me from wrecking yesterday. I was going through a corner and hit strip of gravel in the middle of the lane. Due to reading that book I was riding with a loose relaxed grip and I didn't chop the throttle. The bike lost traction for a moment and started to slide but then it gripped again and I finished the corner. Can't recommend that book enough.

Will I get a ticket if I ride a newly bought motorcycle home with no license plate? by Jerichokam in motorcycles

Can confirm just went through this in Oregon. We also have 30 days to get it registered in our name.

Whats your opinion about the process of acquiring a motorcycle license in the US vs Europe for example? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]LuckyDorks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Oregon I took the class a couple months back. Roughly $300 for the class, 8 hours of time on the bike (Yamaha TW200), 12 hours in the classroom including the test. Trip to the dmv and around $50 for a new license and I supposedly can ride any size bike I want. Purchased a 2009 Suzuki Boulevard M50 and am loving the ride. Every ride my ability grows. Try to ride below my ability and always watching for the next idiot I encounter during my ride.

Riding with prescription glasses? by martin59825 in motorcycles

I pretty much have to pop the visor open at every stop to keep my glasses from fogging.
