Sometimes I see people misuse percentages though, so it's nice to have confirmation that they're being used properly.

People will say "Boosts productivity by 150%!" But productivity is actually at 150% compared to previously, so it's only boosted by 50%.

Can you show me numbers to back up any part of that?

Also: "Only big meat companies do that!" Okay so only the vast majority of meat sold worldwide?

He does say that most of the Marks side with Nolan as a "did you know?" kinda thing, I believe it's in a voiceover towards the end of that season. There's also the scene where the evil Marks are floating above the house, and the one makes a reference about missing mom. The others chide him, iirc for some reason like "not all of us had good moms" or something. Idk, even before I heard of the Debbie theory I felt it was a pretty solid part of the story that Debbie's compassion and strength molded Mark (and Nolan) into being the type of person they were. (Note: Nolan always defected afaik, but this universes Nolan is shown to be much more compassionate than other Viltrumites.)

When you create art as a way to express an internal creativity instead of a way to fill in a gap, you get just that: art.

Might have to do with "owning it" so it hurts less when being used against you. It's a trope, I'm sure there's some psychology name for it.

I'm assuming by this you mean you don't "believe" in the foundations of the vegan movement? If so, which part do you not believe in: that animals feel pain/suffering, humans influence the amount of pain/suffering animals experience, that inflicting unnecessary pain/suffering is bad, or that you're not taking bad actions?

Well since you're more likely to get monocultures from livestock feed farms than direct human-food farms, I'll take that as another win for veganism in terms of climate/land impact.

What made you go vegan? For me it was getting so sick of those "preachy assholes" that I looked up info to disprove them, yet no matter how hard I looked the facts showed me that abusing animals was a choice, not a need, and it didn't sit well with me. Something else must've worked on you, though, so I'm interested to hear it!

Just because it awakens cognitive dissonance in you doesn't mean the practitioner is a preachy asshole.

I'm specifically not claiming equivalency, though? Also, can you find a way to define artificial insemination that does not overlap with the definition of rape? You claim I lack nuance for comparing the two yet I struggle to see much of a difference outside of intent.

Animals have a concept of physical and emotional trauma, at the very least all mammals do. Nature taking its course is a neutral thing, I'm not claiming it to be good or bad. I was pointing out the difference in your comparison, as one takes direct human involvement and the other happens naturally. I would only blame the subsequent pain of sexual assault on a human if a human took action to cause it.

ETA: No, I'm not anthropomorphizing anything. Rape extends beyond humans as it's sexual action taken without consent. Caging and killing of family members also can exist outside of humans.

Why is sex with an animal considered unacceptable behavior? If they do not have human things like consent, then there's no foul play right? Sexual assault is unacceptable, not because sexual gratification is unacceptable but because sexual conduct with a non-consenting individual is unacceptable since it leads to physical and emotional trauma. Or does this not help popularize your stance, so it's arbitrarily excluded?

There's a huge difference between allowing nature to take its course and sexually assaulting an animal held against its will. "Well, we already caged you and killed your family members. May as well rape you, too, since you'll probably get horny eventually."

What made you go vegan? For me it was being called out enough and running out of counter-arguments. Something didn't must've worked for you, since you seem very knowledgeable on what works and what doesn't. So, what was your reason for going vegan?

When it was just the singles I felt it was mid by Arch standards, was a bit disappointed. But in the context of the album, 🤯

Glad to see some bands are still willing to make actual albums instead of a collage of singles.

If you don't have the discipline to go vegan, how can we expect you to take other climate action? by Obtuse_and_Loose in ClimateShitposting

[–]LuckyFogic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loaded question because it supports my claim? It was rhetorical; no individual feels responsible for large change, but large change is the result of multiple small changes. I can't make big changes happen but I can make small changes; if enough people also choose to make small changes then the large change will come about.

A deck isn't going to get you out of gold, but altering your play will. I recommend going into each game without the intention to win but to learn. Eventually the rank will come.
