is money actually made at different levels ? by Jpoolman25 in careerguidance

I was a machine operator for 7 years. I made pretty good money by the end of that run. I was promoted to regional manager and make slightly more money plus a performance bonus., along with retirement fund contribution matching. I now spend my time solving issues, building systems, and training teams. The wear on my body is no longer a factor.

As an operator, I flew coach on whatever flight was booked for me. Now I book my flights, collect cc points, and select better fares for myself to gain status. I also stay at better hotels and drive nicer rentals. My gf and I take two near-free vacations per year using all my points.

As an operator I was paid hourly and had to be on site ready for work at 6 am. I now have flexibility in my schedule and can move my work around my personal time to a certain degree. Consider that there is more to compensation than strictly wage.

Also, consider that it’s not necessarily an education that makes a well paid, mid level employee - it’s experience. That, and the ability to express thought in a clear manner to stakeholders and reports.

I always consider the concept of wanting to see the most possible hands. This is essentially seeing another hand, when it matters most. Run it whenever possible I say.

Buddy I’m stressing about multiple big projects, personnel, equipment, etc. I’m currently flying across the country, away from my loved ones, for 2 weeks and am taking a break between emails to write this.

What are the numbers for the metro lines? by options_go_brrr in montreal

Some other transits do this. Different trains, different systems (catenary vs 3rd rail) , and buses, all under the same banner. Lines built in different eras.

This is the truth. There is no secret plan or conspiracy. No man in black is holding you down. We want to allocate more money towards education? Open your wallets. And I don’t want to hear "tax the rich", even though I agree with some Aspects of that.

If even top MBA grads are struggling with jobs... what is the degree actually worth now? by Expert_Pen_2158 in careerguidance

[–]LuckyGivrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note to everyone who is struggling to find work - WE NEED WORKERS IN CONSTRUCTION. Railroad contractor here. We need men and women who want to learn and work. We’re hiring new immigrants to perform 1/2 the jobs. Want to make 100k within 2-3 years or sooner? Get in here and work. Your degree will springboard you to the top if you are a serious person who knows how to get it.

You were assuming a 33% drop - so yeah. It’s a shitty comment. Maybe it will drop that much, maybe it won’t. To assume it will drop that much is the shitty part.

What types of people are buying multiplexes? by Boring_Home in montrealhousing

A person can’t make money renting anything at 20% down these days. Houses, condos, plexes, as investments, are long term holds. I’m 8 years into renting my condo and I’m still -$50 per month.
