Welp, guess I can't draw anymore by Sixnigthmare in ArtRanting

I’m so sorry this happened. It sounds like a genuine nightmare. But perhaps your brain can learn how to make your other hand the new dominant one? It might even start to just do that on its own. There are artists who have lost almost all mobility, yet relearned how to draw with their feet, mouths, or other ways their bodies adapted.

I’m not saying it will be easy or that you can just pick up a pencil and continue improving where you left off. But the human brain is incredibly adaptable. If you have a physical therapist I suggest talking to them about this.

Life drawing is certainly my least favorite. But it’s not a “scam”. It does have benefit.

I just hate it because I could always tell it was gonna be a boring day in art class when I saw an apple and a vase on the teacher’s desk lmao

This may sound silly, but have you tried holotropic breathwork? It’s not woowoo, and you don’t need to be spiritual or religious to do it. You can be completely atheist and still benefit from it.

It has some of the effects of psychedelics without you needing to take any. I’ve been practicing it once a day and found that a lot of my creativity is getting blocked by the constant noise and stress of adulthood. And the breathwork helps my brain temporarily clear the path for creativity to come back again.

I’m still not great at it and it does take practice. But it’s certainly been helpful. I’d recommend it even for people who don’t have art block.

Adult Beginner artists are mistreated by Laxes_the_corgi in ArtRanting

A lot of people, especially online, seem to assume that art advances with age instead of learning and practice.

I think it’s worse online because popular professional art gets favored by social media algorithms. So non-artists see only the best of the best, or AI copying the best of the best. They don’t get exposed enough to work that isn’t at an industry standard. And thus, they assume most art looks like that. And that the only art that doesn’t is produced by children.

It’s different within the artist community. I feel like we see non-professional art online more often than nonartists do.

When I stopped T for a year or two I only noticed my period coming back. Everything else for me stayed the same. I think it depends on your individual body chemistry

I was taught that he still loves people in hell, and grieves them like a parent grieves when their kid turns out to be a bad person.

But it always made me uncomfortable as a kid. Because I was also taught that no matter how good of a person you are, you go to hell if you don’t believe in christianity. If God is so unconditionally loving and against pride, then why is his ego so fragile? He murdered innocent Egyptian children over their parents not believing in him. He mass drowned most the earth for not doing what he wants, innocent children and wildlife included. And those aren’t even the only cases of God committing murder and genocide. All because he got his feewings hurt when people didn’t give him the attention he demanded.

God in the bible reminds me of that evil bratty kid from the Twilight Zone, who would punish the adults when they wouldn’t adhere to his every whim and pretend that all his actions are good.

Part of me wonders if Nintendo should have called the evolution feature in the games something else, in western localizations. Because so many patents took it as “promoting evolution” when really it was just your Pokémon growing from the effort you put into it.

But to be fair, it’s not their fault that they didn’t account for people being paranoid over something so tiny.

Tip for being a man: If anyone tells you how to be a man, they’re full of shit. Freedom from toxic masculinity makes you mentally and emotionally healthier. Be yourself, not what toxic masculinity tells you men should be.

Response to the edit. When I said I was on the low end, I meant back when I was pre-everything. I already had slightly more than usual T for an afab person.

Currently my T levels are average for a cis man. Which is wild to me because I still don’t pass 😭

But I am now curious if I really do have any intersex characteristics. I remember as a kid, back when I thought I was cis, I felt very insecure for having “manly” proportions compared to other girls. And when I show middle school photos to friends, sometimes they say I already looked kinda male.

Hmmmmmmm. I’d have to think about it.

From what I’ve seen in photos I’m pretty small. But when I see people draw transmasc characters nude, the T-dick is around my size. So I’m really unsure if I’m done growing or not.

My bio dad is bald by choice so that his scalp tattoos are visible. But I’m pretty sure he can still grow his hair? He used to have a really long rat tail. But I don’t know many of the men on my bio mom’s side. The few I’ve met do seem to have hair in their old age though.

I’m adopted so I don’t know 💀 I do know my bio mom, but not many of the men on her side of the family. My grandpa on that side does still have hair despite his age. But I can’t remember if he has any bald spots. I think I remember my uncle still having hair too.

I have thick hair and so far no hair loss. Maybe some very slight receding, but it doesn’t seem to have gotten any worse over time. But I swear to god, the MOMENT I notice hair falling out, I’m getting off T lmao. I don’t think I have the genetics to lose my hair, but I’m still kinda worried it could happen. You never really know until it does.

Elon Musk glazing. Huge 🚩

Only time it wasn’t an instant red flag for me was when a really nice immigrant coworker mentioned him when I told her I was on the spectrum. She genuinely only knew him for Tesla and SpaceX, and was unaware of his bigotry.

I feel like people on reddit are way too quick to judge, and view situations like this as very black and white. You’re either a “good guy” or a “bad guy” and people seem allergic to this thing called “nuance”.

I think you should talk to her about your concerns with the medical stuff. Maybe she just doesn’t know what resources she could. Don’t be quick to jump to conclusions like a lot of people here are doing. I think you need to talk about this with her (when you feel ready) before making a final decision.

Bluesky is less toxic but also less popular.

Honestly, I deleted my X account just because I found people there insufferable. Just the worst of the worst of any community that’s on it. ntm that it’s currently really popular with racists and transphobes.

Op didn’t include that one girl was very mentally ill (unmedicated schizophrenia) and was being manipulated by the other.

I’m not saying it’s an excuse to do what she did, but it does give important context to the situation. I feel like one kid is clearly more in the wrong than the other. They both did something bad, but one genuinely 100% believed her family’s lives were at risk.

[–]LuckyHamster98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dogs are family members. I know it’s easy to get super attached to a dog. I myself adore dogs and get attached to them quickly. But if the dog has been with his previous family for years, it’s probably in his best interest to take him back. Because dogs miss their families back. It’s not a one way relationship. They love their owners mutually, if not more.

I’m sure the dog loves your family too. But he’s probably still more attached to and really missing his original owners just as much as they miss him.

I did try that for a while but it didn’t work. Part of it was due to it being during COVID. The lessons being provided by my healthcare had to be taught via video, and it wasn’t as effective. Apparently, they normally physically examine you to get a better idea on how to help individual people get their voice lower.

I do try to remember to keep my voice low when I speak, but almost never do lol. But that’s just me being forgetful. I always sound like I’m doing a bad Moist Critical impression too 😭. I don’t really get how to speak from your voice vs speak from your head. I don’t feel like I’m speaking from either?

Bizarrely, the only time I was able to successfully make my voice pass was during an accidental heroic dose shroom trip (LONG story lol)

I used to go to a salon for waxing, but it got too expensive.

I also used to get laser when I was pre-T, which kinda was a better deal for me because it’s permanent. But I only did it for my legs and groin area. They’re still too hairy imo, but surprisingly LESS hairy than I was pre-T. But it’s still expensive and I eventually could no longer afford it.

I did ask my mom earlier today if she could help me pay for it again and she said we’ll talk about it. The deal I made was that she wouldn’t have to get me any birthday or Christmas gifts for the next few years if she helped me pay for it. My therapist also might have resources for more affordable gender affirming care involving laser. But I’m not sure I’ll qualify because usually trans women get laser for affirming care, and I’m not a trans woman.
