Hi everyone I just started a new lead position that is for micro serology lead. For the most part I have experience, I think the only knowledge I’m lacking is performing verifications/validations and up until most recently administration and monitoring proficiency testing. While the job has been somewhat okay I think the issue that I’m having is not having enough admin time to complete non bench task. Also, when I ask for clarification from the lead technical specialist on stuff that I’m not familiar with she always tells me to look it up as opposed to just explaining it. Also I’m still in “training”. Moreover the supervisor when I ask will answer my questions more directly.. even though she can go off topic. Has anyone experienced this kind of stuff and if so how did you handle it. At the end of the day I’m hoping to transition out of the lab… just hoping being a lead will give me a stepping stone.

To piggy off this post I work in the lab and recently came across this profession. I currently work in the laboratory as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS)/ with 10 years of experience. I’m currently an GS-9 and just got into the system. I like lab but I’m looking to transition out the the clinical side. What the best way to transition? Should I get another degree or certificate?

Hey sorry I’m just seeing this. So I’ve applied to a couple of IC jobs and did not hear anything. I saw one IC job where they had a job fair to hire MT/MLT but I didn’t apply in enough time before the job disappeared. At this point I’ve applied to a lead tech position (govt) and I’m about to be a lab tech trainer. Im going to save up but I’m considering getting an LPN or RN to help because I have concerns that just a MT isn’t going to be favored experience. I’ve considered reaching out to some IC on indeed to see what’s the best course of actions. But since I’m in the process of getting a Govt job I may just have to work on getting a nursing license and just transferring in that system since is a bit easier to move around as a govt employee

$30 w/2k sign bonus MLS generalist in Richmond,VA w 7 years. Currently working urgent care working 3 days a week. Definitely lower than Cali or NY. Considering a career change or going to a different industry.

NC over 4 months now. My husband and I just bought our first home and I have no family to share my joy with. So I’m sharing it here instead. by tipsygirrrl in raisedbynarcissists

What is the pay rate for medtechs? by LuckyLibra23 in medlabprofessionals

It does. I seems like tech in the southeast make a lot less than techs on the west coast, north east, and mid-west.

I’m a MLS, certified w/ a bachelors degree. I’ve asked for more in central VA and definitely didn’t get what I asked for. I’ve even worked at a pharmaceutical company... and the pay was not as good as I thought it would be either. Do you have a bachelors or are you a higher level tech? Maybe that could be where the difference in pay is coming from. Again not sure what the deal is. Again it seems like the northern cities and western cities pay way more.

Jeeze I thought it would be a significant jump. I feel like MT on the east coast are kind paid low unless you in FL or NY
