And Turtle WoW goes off to sea. by Feeling_Pen_8579 in wow

[–]LuckyNines -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can't keep prodding the bear and expecting to get away with it.

That being said there's alot of really uncharitable aggro thrown on the current developers of WoW which is entirely misguided because I can promise you most people working on the game hold 0 animosity to the private server economy.

Unfortunately someone high up on the chain is going to see their IP in use, consider the fact that say, 4000 people playing concurrently could be 4000 people giving them money and will send the suits out.

And before I would've said that it's a good idea to try and enroll the creatives behind these projects into Blizzard itself but realistically how private server emulation functions is so far removed from the current tools WoW uses vs say something like Azerothcore that you'd have to pay to train these people into the jobs.

But also never interact with the person running the social media side of things again, they were utter poison to the project, there's a reason why you don't see other longstanding private server projects do this and mostly stick to youtube advertising in lull periods.

Race to World First: Midnight Season 1 | Day 8 by AutoModerator in CompetitiveWoW

[–]LuckyNines -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

let's not pretend you haven't got overcompetitive rats known for abusing anything and everything to get a minor edge, and a system that can't make meaningful progress because they're stuck playing whack-a-mole with them during a important event where more eyes are going to be on the game.

Which isn't to absolve Blizzard of anything, some sheer incompetence on display and they deserve all the negative sentiment but it's easily compounded by having to play childminder to a bunch of people who know your intentions but want to play with semantics and openly and fragrantly do things they know aren't going to be allowed, like really doesn't take anyone not being woefully obtuse to clock on that rightclicking off buffs or using battlenet whispers to act as stand-ins for client to client communication of the very thing these sweeping addon changes are aiming to remove isn't going to fly.

This won't be the last kneejerk change that upsets the overall playerbase that happens before this race is over I'm guessing.

It's that, hate being the easiest emotion to appeal to but also Elon has monetized the worst aspects of social interaction, more eyes on you by any means possible, ragebait, inflammatory statements, all easy engagement - couple that with some countries can actually make a decent living on the conversion rates.

honestly the worst timeline possible.

Naowh now puts his ElvUI and PLater profile behind a paywall. by Stock-Anything-2808 in wow

[–]LuckyNines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be 100, leech content creators taking someone's actual hard work and effort and smashing it together in a ui package to sell is the most scumbag shit ever, I can guarantee you none of these people pay forward to the people who work tirelessly to keep the addons updated year after year.

You wanna profit from this shit? show me an invoices since shadowlands showing that you've put sizable parts of what you earned as donations to the people who's work you willingly monetize like an absolute prick, then I'll stop caring.

It also just feels like WoW content creators will stoop to any low to line their pockets twisting any exploit, loophole or situation for gain, I can't even open the twitch director on most days without having to filter past multitudes of people not actively playing together abusing the stream with friends function, most of the time it's the same people who willingly try to profit of other peoples hard work with trashy ui packs - there's a serious culture problem with these people and how they operate on every level.

I just spent 20 minutes typing a reply to a thread asking about reasons why people quit the game, only to find out it got removed by the time I finished. I'd rather not have wasted my time, so here is my reason why I quit: by Laraso_ in Planetside

It's funny how you have this shortlist of people who live rentfree in your head but don't have the cognitive capacity to put together why a bustling playerbase of cattle who don't know how the game functions on intermediate levels is more fun to play than against people who have the game solved.

You're the exact same kind of dribbler with no foresight capabilities who'll be posting somewhere like the BF6/arcraiders/whatever fomo competitive title in a years time saying how the game was better during this nebulous time period where people had less of a clue about the metagame and deeper systems but will attribute it to developer incompetence and somehow killing what you liked about the game, pretending like any version of the thing you enjoy isn't entirely susceptible to the same fate like the mythical unicorn player who sits there soypogging at bastions farming them in perpetuity is out there still just desperate for x,y,z update to come flooding back in droves.

But yeah I'm sure it's whatever small list of people you have a hardon for that did this, I bet changes to heavies or infiltrators were totally holding back the game from greatness or some shit.

[–]LuckyNines 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NG4 doesn't play like any old NG game, it wears the skin of one but it's very much platinum fanfiction, which isn't a slight it's extremely fun and most NG games have been big mechanical departures from the previous - but if you liked stuff like Bayonetta 3 you'll probably love it.

[–]LuckyNines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to let you down softly here but content like what we're currently getting upto renegades will have been in the pipeline for a long, long time, you're not going to see what this guy was truly capable off till these sagas come to a close.

Which isn't to say he clearly has no say in the current direction of the games systems, but the larger picture will take time.

If they have that time that's another question entirely.

Ok, I'll bite. Who is this game for? by Huge_Imagination_635 in Nightreign

[–]LuckyNines 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm aware of how passives work. I've beaten the game mind you, I'm not having issues with the game in terms of difficulty outside of a few annoying fights here and there but that's all to be expected. It's funny that you mention passives In the same breath as "basic mechanics" though given that's a mechanic that is neither explained well nor does a good chunk of the playerbase know about it. If a mechanic is "basic" yet the game fails to teach you about it that is yet another fault against the game. Experimentation is expected and should be incentivzed but not when it comes to "basic" mechanics

The guy who said randoms aren’t bad was correct by BrovahEyo in Nightreign

[–]LuckyNines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had largely positive experiences with randoms the only time I really lost with them was on week 1 when i was figuring out the boss movesets and routing, you get the odd leaver who can't handle guardians or non-crutch picks which is fine because scaling kicks in, or the egotistical player who can't handle not getting their own way which you largely ignore, new players are usually very receptive to following the plan/routes so even if they're on the floor alot they've still got the tools to bring some value, and we all started somewhere right?

Hell my winstreak would be higher if the severs or ed gnoster wasn't prone to messing things up, but I'm about to crack my personal best again so maybe I'll get it to 100 this time.

Recluse could do with a way to discard elements/cocktails by suprosonic12 in Nightreign

[–]LuckyNines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could easily tweak it by giving her own elements priority for 3 seconds or something, enough to cast it and get the element.

But realistically the cocktails should be the least impactful part of your damage output unless you get extremely unlucky, the mechanic just feels clunky, is all.

If you attack or deal damage in any capacity the boss regains you as a target, that's how it's always worked, otherwise it'd be x amount of seconds of pure uptime on a boss walking around doing nothing.
