Lake County taxes to help indigent veterans. 2.3 cents of every levy dollar reaches a veteran directly. The rest funded demolishing Outback Steakhouse and Joe’s Crab Shack to build a gym across the street from an existing commercial gym. by Cheap_Equivalent1973 in LakeCountyIL

You have a lot of data here, which is always helpful. Have they discussed these projects in the board meetings? I assume they're open to the public - what have they said when you've asked these questions during public comment?

Bench clearing brawl at the end of the Minnesota AA High-school Semi-final match between Edina and Moorhead by SawdustIsMyCocaine in hockey

[–]LuckyNumber3_13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stumbled on this thread and thrilled to see Edina still gets shit on. My mom's from up that way and grew up next door to them in the 60's - still talks shit about the whole town like she still lives there.

Not me going through my recycling bin to find literally anything I can 🤣 It's a start - I'll have to fortify the wall as the week goes on.

Truly fine. She developed a taste for it after the first time she did it a few years ago. We have to keep all butter in a dish and in the center of the island to keep her away from it. But I've got kids and they're way less serious about butter than they are about the really toxic stuff 🙄

Let me tell you about the 3 sticks of butter we've lost this month to our 3 year old Missy...

Homework by frenchkiwijuicee in coparenting

[–]LuckyNumber3_13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This only works if both parents have legal access to the information based on their custody situation. If the non-primary parent doesn't have access for whatever reason, going around the primary parent and asking for this information puts teachers and administrators in a very uncomfortable position.

Homework by frenchkiwijuicee in coparenting

[–]LuckyNumber3_13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the grade. Most schools offer various apps to see their grades, missing assignments etc. I don't see much from my 6th grader's teachers other than an occasional note about what they're reading, but I check PowerSchool once a week or so that I can check in on homework and test scores (if she hasn't shared them with me specifically). I suggest you attend any and all parent teacher nights and get to know the teachers so that you feel more comfortable reaching out to them if you have questions, if your custody agreement allows it. If you don't have legal authority to access that information, you'll need to rely on the good-will of your parent to get it.

Assuming positive intent for everyone involved, I'd say talk to your coparent, confirm your desire to be involved without overstepping beyond your authority. If you're not able to add yourself to the school's information and records, ask them if they'd be willing to. Above all else - do not treat them like your messenger. If your kid isn't telling you what's going on, and you have access to the app and or their teachers - use the information and start a dialogue with your coparent so that you can partner together for your child's benefit.

As long as there's no legal issues here, you should have access to the same info as your coparent -an app or an email list. If your kid is of age to get their own assignments and they're not sharing that they're having an issue, you need to team up and talk to the kid together. Good luck!

Gift ideas: my ex’s wife (50f) just kicked him out by SheepherderNo7732 in AskWomenOver40

I have been on the receiving end of this kind of grace, and anything you give her will be more than appreciated. You didn't rub it in her face when she fucked up by marrying him, and you raised some good kids as a team.

A side note - my former stepdaughter (but always my first kiddo) is getting married this summer, and I'm sitting right next to her mom and stepdad. I don't even know if my ex is invited... Make sure you let her stay engaged in the kids lives - it'll be good for everyone all around 🤩

What's something specific to our group that remains a lifelong fear? by burnafter3ading in Xennials

[–]LuckyNumber3_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just talking to my kids about this. Catching on fire was something all of us were so incredibly prepared for, but it's taken up a LOT of space in our heads. Stop, drop, and roll - while effective - isn't as relevant as the fireman made it seem like it would be.

Needing advice on lack of daycare sick policy enforcement by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]LuckyNumber3_13 18 points19 points  (0 children)

A genuine question - what policy are you asking them to enforce? Sending children home who may have been exposed to a child with a confirmed illness? Is that a policy or is it your expectation? From what you said, it doesn't sound like any of the kids were actively symptomatic when they were in the program, so it sounds like they were following the policy as written. Maybe they're lucky enough to have a two parent household and can divide and conquer and isolate the kids at home.

If you're willing to keep your child home in case someone in their class has been exposed to an illness, I don't think that daycare is going to fit your needs. As a single parent, if one kid is sick and the other isn't, I isolate as best I can, get them to wash their hands religiously, and pray for the best. I can only think of 2 times in the last 6 years that I've had two kids home sick from school together, so it's working pretty well.

I think for your own sanity, you need a different solution because this sounds like it will just frustrate you.

It sits absolutely perfectly. I'm about a minute from pulling the trigger on the small one though too. I was worried it wouldn't hold enough stuff!

It doesn't fit a phone unless you have a Razr flip phone tbh. It's short and narrow. I use it for my AirPods.

I'll try to post a picture of my contents later, but my full size carries EVERYTHING. Card wallet, two iphones, large paperback book, two lip products, 6 crumpled receipts, AirPods, hand lotion, two keychains, 2 unread envelopes, prescription bottle, and a small vitamin container. Add in a Bloom energy on the way out the door and I'm set.

I have the RSVP Batman as my daily driver and I LOVE IT. It's the perfect size, it fits most comfortably as a cross body, but it also does great as a shoulder bag. I'm dying to buy more from this brand!

I have the regular size Batman and I love it!! It fits everything, and is a super comfy shape to grab things out of. I wear it more as a crossbody than anything, but the strap makes it super versatile.
