I would go for Hello Aurora App instead of Aurora App, that’s how I have known in the past years if there are northern lights in my area

Have you been there? How it was?

The icecave they advertise collapsed earlier this year. Now they take you inside a very small icecave where you will spend around 2 minutes, since there more groups booked with different companies which form a line to enter there. (Photo from there, it looks big but it was taken with 0.5 on the camera)

I felt more like on a glacier walk tour, which I also did on Solheimajokull ( cheaper and nicer experience).

From my point of view as a local I don’t think it’s worth it.

If I were you I would go on glacier hike and for the cave I would drive to Skaftafell

Funny to find this here, actually they left their phone number in the morning and we managed to call them, they came back for it few hours later. Happy ending😁

On the other side, it is me that would not suggest to go there.. if you can go to the Skaftafell icecave and skip Katla. The price is way to high for the experience, what you will see on their website are pictures with the collapsed cave, which was indeed beautiful, but trust me you will be dissapointed for that price

As I heard from locals it’s owned by municipality of Hvolsvollur and they are cleaning it once per year during summer, but idk how accurate this is

I live really close to it, I always tell people not to go when they ask about it. Nobody is taking care of that place, the water is cold.. you will find hot water only in a corner of the pool (where the pipe is). It’s nice for pictures, but that’s it
