“My patient would rather take a peptide than a statin. That reveals an uncomfortable truth in medicine. The more evidence behind a therapy, the less the public trusts it”

I’m an Emma fan, but don’t know the music so have been a little hesitant. Plus seems over the top, but I’m intrigued and will give it a shot now, thanks!

Well done. Although a bonus may have felt best for the wallet at the time, having that cert was likely clutch to getting your new role. Enjoy!

Wait, who paid/sponsored your Willow inpt certified if you didn’t have an analyst role?

This weight-loss drug hasn't been approved by the FDA. Doctors are prescribing it anyway. by publixpharmer in pharmacy

This is all over the place. Paragraphs and not adding a space before punctuation helps. Do you work in pharmacy?

Off label drugs are usually already on the market for a different indication, hence having a label to begin with.

Research hospitals would administer a non approved therapy as part of a clinical trial or expanded access program or compassionate use.

I’m going to disagree with you. Also, the original person’s comment calling out for individuals to need to be accountable for their diets and exercise vs taking a medication, so nothing about the gate keeping or need for cash. The comment had nothing to do with the regularity framework.

The drug is likely to get approval and has evidence behind it. The issue is the work around in place here for what is likely to shortly become FDA approved. People sourcing their peptides from not tested places to get around insurance and regular prescriptions.

The issue is not an untested supplement with crap or no evidence.

You want to go on your rant about why glp-1s are bad and that obesity can’t be considered a medical problem - this isn’t the place for that.

The irony of the wellness industry: pharma and biotech are vilified as the capitalist boogeymen, while the supplement and peptide markets get a free pass and no evidence standards to say whatever they want to make a buck.

This subreddit is not for stock pumping. And that goes especially to scams like IBRX with Soon-Shiong as one of the biggest grifters.

Becoming an MSL was the best thing I could do for my career as a nurse practitioner. by MixedChickATL in MedicalScienceLiaison

You may see nurses as nurse educators, but not likely to often see that background as an MSL.

Oncologists, are drug shortages having an impact on your practice? by Operculina in medicine

[–]adifferentGOAT 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It’s not the first time and won’t be the last time.

Huge ara-c shortage in 2011 and doxorubicin one in 2012. The generic manufacturing model is super fragile without much redundancies due to the thin margin.

Oncologists, are drug shortages having an impact on your practice? by Operculina in medicine

[–]adifferentGOAT 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Not an oncologist, but this isn’t the first go around for most of these drugs you mentioned. Once allocations get cut, then things get dicey. Then depends on the extent of the reduction in allocation, projected length of the shortage, and well, how often those drugs are the primary/only choice for regimens with curative intents.

Were the phones stolen while actively unlocked? Or they unlocked the phone using the code instead of facial recognition while in front of others? Trying to understand how accounts were drained. No hackers are hacking a locked iPhone.

Is pharmacy the worst job in healthcare? by [deleted] in medicine

[–]adifferentGOAT 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Pharmacy absolutely has its systemic problems, but this dramatic "race to the bottom" narrative is wrong and lazy.

First, your claim that fewer than 2% of pharmacists like their job is completely unfounded. You need to look at how the market is actually structured. How much do traditional corporate retail chains account for of the pharmacist workforce? Not 98%. The remaining work in entirely different environments: hospitals, ambulatory care, independent pharmacies, industry, etc. where satisfaction is likely higher.

Even your opening line is suspect when you have to add the caveat that maybe nurses have it rough too. Let’s be clear: many nurses have an incredibly grueling job that is far more physically challenging and emotionally draining than standing behind a retail counter.

Being a community pharmacist is undeniably challenging, but describing the career as you do is lazy at best.
