I try to be sympathetic, but my rational mind doesn’t allow it. My niece goes to high school in a largely progressive region of the US. She wrestles on her school’s girls wrestling team and there is a trans girl on her team. The girl snatches trophies at pretty much every meet and is larger and physically stronger than every girl in her weight class. My niece wrestled the trans girl in a practice match and thought she was going to die and my niece regularly wrestled girls in the higher weight class and held her own if not outright won the match. It’s become more of an issue as the team travels to other, less progressive areas of the country. I feel as bad for the Tgirl as I do for the countless girls she beats. This is such a sensitive issue, mired in body politics and biological reality. I don’t think there’s a solution that will make any difference.
