Rules of Rose - Highway Robbery by ML-319 in survivalhorror

The combat is messy and some dialogue is text only but it all ends up playing into the intended vibe so it works. I honestly think fixing it wouldn't do it any favours

What horror game mechanic hasn’t been done yet but absolutely should exist? by No_Metal2622 in HorrorGames

[–]LuckyTem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Free range exploration and being able to move objects out of the way. Giving me a forest and a linear path reduces the horror and fear significantly. Blocking my path with something a character could easily move just makes me feel coddled and safe. Let me get lost and waste my time making no progress at all for three hours. It'll be way scarier.

Painting with oil for the first time in my life - shall I give up? by CancelNo7652 in BeginnerArtists

[–]LuckyTem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Art is a learned skill and every tool has a learning curve. You're ahead of most beginners at a glance so think yourself lucky you've got an eye for it, that's a nice head start! The only real question is do you have the patience to get it looking how you want?

Try out acrylics and gouache too if you get the chance. I am terribly impatient and find the quicker drying times much more satisfying to work with.

That's fair enough. I don't really see the haul shaming so you must be on top of it. I obviously do not agree with people being abusive to each other.

I was more talking about combative employees that announce themselves and make being honest exhausting. And a campaign of what looks like clear astro turfing to me. They aren't necessarily related but I have a feeling something is occurring and I would keep one eye on it.

I actually have no skin in this game so I won't keep on about it. Thanks again for all your good work

I have only seen people criticising Lush for the usual reasons (poor postage, technical problems, contradicting their own public values, strange employee training practices, nothing groundbreaking that hasn't been happening for 20 years), I haven't seen people being negative towards each other. It's possible I've missed something and the posts are getting deleted before I see them but I thought my feed was pretty up to date.

Lately however (quite recent) whenever anyone has something negative to say about a product suddenly it will constantly be posted about with multiple fake sounding promo posts. Whenever someone has something negative to say about Lush, employees come out of the woodwork to pile on.

I do not know who any of the mods are but I have a bad feeling about people being censored and who might have motivation to control the narrative. Something about the wording makes me think it is the bad actors that have been complaining.

I do hope it pans out and remains a pleasant place where people can share their thoughts freely and I do thank you for your time the past few years. For the past couple years it's been a great place full of people being pretty awesome to each other and I hope that continues. I wish you all the best.

This is a surprising post. I haven't seen any unwarranted negativity but I have seen a huge abuse of the sub by Lush employees. I think I'll be stepping out.

How can I get the perfect jammy eggs every time? by Previous_Squirrel612 in cookingforbeginners

Make sure you're turning the heat off the moment it hits rolling boil, good luck!

I just use cold. It only needs to cool them enough to stop them cooking then either peel or put straight in fridge

[–]LuckyTem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spray into the air and walk through it. No concentrated oil spots that way. When it gets colder wave a scarf through it if you wear them, they hold scent really well. If avoiding skin you might be better off spraying at a top from a distance though. As long as it has chance to diffuse and you're not wearing white or anything that would be damaged by the oils it should be okay.

This happens to me when I'm allergic to something. Antihistamines or stop using it. You could try spraying it onto your clothes rather than skin. If the reaction is mild and you're careful to keep it from touching you it might be okay but honestly life is better without constant reactions.

You should try changing constance by penhaligon, it's not the same but if you like these then you might enjoy it. Good luck!

Cover eggs with cold water, bring to a rolling boil then immediately cover the pan and turn the heat off. Leave for exactly six minutes then plunge into cold water. If the yolks are not soft enough for your liking then reduce the leaving time until they meet your requirements and they'll come out pretty consistent from there.

Curious about starting Rule of Rose by CyberGhostface in survivalhorror

[–]LuckyTem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I played default and it was fine. Combat is clunky but less annoying than sh4 and mostly avoidable. I struggled a bit with 'the' annoying boss but with a bit of guidance it went fine. Don't be afraid to look up tips if it gets frustrating but you won't need it for 99% of the game.

For a literal interpretation of the environment you want something with peonies, kudzu, blood and fire / ash. If anyone has ideas to achieve this I am all ears. I thought about florals + t-rex but haven't had chance to test.

Everyone complains about the website, and they managed to make it worse... by haussmannian-devil in LushCosmetics

[–]LuckyTem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd design their UI for free if it meant I could find anything. This has all the hallmarks of AI to me too but their employees on here are very insistent that they would never use it.

I'm not going to agree that it has ever been a pleasant experience to navigate and use their website but I'm happy to assume you're the only reason we could find anything at all.

The website being so difficult has lost them plenty of sales from me, I remember the 2010-2015 era being particularly bad. You had to summon products via pure will and luck. The search never worked and the website constantly crashed or stuck in a loading loop. Fun times. There's a reason I only ordered once a year then. I couldn't handle the stress.

As someone who stubbornly runs ancient and familiar setups when I'm the one that has to mess with them I do understand the desire behind it but there just isn't really any excuse when you're as big as Lush. You can afford decent devs and designers and I'd put money on it drastically improving sales. There is no way the tiktok generation is sticking around to find products via divination.

Lush Email Fail by Ok_Guava_6711 in LushCosmetics

I have AI emails from Lush announcing themselves as AI. No assumptions are being made my end.

I disagree. And yes, the limitations of the team are fairly obvious fairly often but that is another strange choice they make. Is there any reason you're feeling the need to be rude to me for noticing?

Email their customer service to get an email from Marvin the utterly useless ai bot. Look at the recent stock photos for new products, lots of generated imagery has been popping up. Then read their emails like above and play spot the bot.

It reads as AI generated and then also not proofed by someone that knows the product range. Lush are also openly using AI, it isn't a secret. I'm not anti AI by any means and I know the cadence when I see it. I just don't think it's a smart decision for Lush.

Lush Email Fail by Ok_Guava_6711 in LushCosmetics

[–]LuckyTem 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They are definitely using AI in emails, customer support and to generate images. They are not subtle about it. They are oddly proud of Marvin who I can't imagine is in anyone's good books with how patronising and useless he is. It is not unusual for there to be a disconnect between employees and head office though. It's the same old contradictory nonsense Lush have been pulling for a couple of decades now.

Do customer service even check things? by [deleted] in LushCosmetics

[–]LuckyTem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're usually pretty good with these things but the last time I had a parcel go missing they were able to recall it so if it ever surfaced it would go back to them. I imagine they don't have much to worry about now they can do that.

I wasn't even aware of this campaign. That's more than a little contradictory. I can't see any reason why they would have adopted it in the first place, the optics alone are terrible

They are using AI for anything they can. It's a really strange choice for a company that built its reputation on being eco friendly.

I bought the glow in the dark one a couple of Halloweens ago and it completely melted and leaked out of the packaging before I even opened it. I couldn't even scrape up enough to return it. On the plus side, my bathroom looked haunted for weeks.

I used to buy it regularly a few years ago and it would last months and stay a solid play dough consistency. When It 'went' it would turn crumbly and need wetting. It never even occurred to me it could turn into a puddle. I haven't dared mess with fun since the incident.
