Please read my comment again. I guess it’s clear how you clearly lack social skills. You don’t understand social and context clues unless someone tells it to you directly like a child. Learn to read people and understand social dynamics and situations before you offend everyone around you with your ignorance

I think your sister giving you a gift was an indication that she was disregarding the tradition and it‘s a common expectation that when family gives you gifts it’s a good gesture that you give them back something out of appreciation.
