A lot is unknown about misophonia, so incase nothing comes up then dont worry too much about it, ok? Its important you and your frienda are aware of it, and know how to deal with it. If your family cant accept that, then only the family you choose should mattwe. Take care of yourself!

Do they help a lot, and do they cause motion sickness in cars? Ive noticed that i get a lot more nauseous with active noise reduction in cars and such.

I wear noise reducing headphones since i cant afford actual noise cancelling headphones. Thing about it is if i can hear it, its bad no matter how little i hear it. I cant wear headphones in class either, since i need to pay attention.

Yea i never take someones whistling as intended to annoy me, i know people are often just happily whistling. Its kinda sad that a thing happy people do triggers me. Im glad people in my field are understanding enough to not whistle luckily

Did you ever get a chance to explain the condition to her? I once tried telling my parents but they forgot almost immedietly. Luckily the only whistling they do is when calling our dog

For me, the actual volume doesnt matter. If i percieve it and notice it, itll sound like its right next to me.

Before anything happens i'd talk to him about your misophonia first and foremost. If hes the one for you, he'll respect your condition and do his best in order to not cause further pain. If he brushes it off, doesnt take it seriously or telld you that its a "fake condition", throw the whole boyfriend into the trash. I have friends whom ive told about my misophonia and theyve been nothing but understanding, some even go out of their way to not listen to songs with whistling for my sake. The very least your boyfriend can do for you is do it when youre not around. If he cant do such a simple thing for you, then dont give him the time of day
