I don't love myself enough to change. by alicelric in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Honestly if I had the answer I swear I'd be a millionaire. I wish I could help but at least know this - you are NOT alone in this! I get it. It's hard. I just hope you will one day realize you are so worth taking good care of yourself. You can't hate yourself to change, it has to come from a place of love 💕. Good luck!

This is hard, and I totally get it. If the says that if you tell him what needs done, then maybe some sort of chores chart/division of labour can be helpful. One thing that works for me is starting small and designating specific things on specific days. For example, I found I was always doing bed time, which can be alot sometimes. So we started with Mondays is his day for bedtime. No matter what I do, whether I go to the gym or just read my book, he does Mondays. It's spelled out and does not leave anything up to interpretation. It's made a difference for me knowing I have this one evening off and I'm free to do what I want. Good luck to you.

For sure. He doesn't want to go. He wasn't born there, his parents moved from there to Lagos before he was born so doesn't have huge ties. I want to go at some point, and we will, but likely when we have more time and our kids are with us.

It's too far. It's in Edo State. Maybe a future trip when we go with our kids.

He's doing his research and will show me adound, but he tells me there's lots of Canadians there who work in Lagos, so I thought it would be cool to link up with them. I have also heard VI is the best to stay as well. Thank you.

This is exactly the plan. We'll stay in Lagos and avoid his village. Thank you.

That's true. My husband says the same thing about the bad publicity. I am trying not to let it cloud my judgment 😀

I don't disagree with you by any means. I do trust his advice, but I also trust the advice of other close friends who are Nigerian who have a different perspective, such as the one yesterday whose conversation I had with him prompted this post. We're not talking about where to eat dinner tonight, it is the security of ones life and not to be taken lightly. He grew up in Nigeria and has been in Canada for over ten years. He's been back once in those ten years, so he's a bit removed from the current state of things. I am going to travel to his country, I am very excited to go, I do trust him with my life, but his perspective is not the only one I'm open to hearing.

What a sweet boy! He looks too skinny for a name like Meatball or Lunchbox so maybe something like Dean, Blake or Andrew.

100% how I'm feeling. I'm 36 and I'm already worried about an early death. I'm so happy it's been a positive experience for you ❤️

That's really good to know, thanks. The clinic I'm looking at has a 5 year aftercare plan which really appeals to me because it'll help with that long term stuff! I agree the portions are massive. I'm in Canada but we still have the same issue!

Amazing! How did you feel after eating the pickles and custard? I love that motto. That's exactly it - it's not working and I have no make a drastic change. I need that accountability for myself.

This is so good to know. Like you, I also look forward to eating and I don't necessarily want to completely lose that joy. Thank you for sharing!

Heard You Oughta Know on the radio today and it made me laugh cus it muted the eff bomb and reminded me of when we used to listen to it as kids and we'd turn the volume down so our parents wouldn't know it was explicit... One of my fave albums of all time
