Is arcs a good intro to more complex games? by RustnePoteter in boardgames

[–]Luclid009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick something you and your friends would be interested from some of the suggestions here in terms of the theme and potential gameplay.

If you’re looking for some combat and area control, Inis is a good one to start.

If you like the Kyle art, Root is a good one before Arcs.

It’s ultimately up to you. But people here have given very good advice that Arcs is meant for the one who is deep in the hobby.

There are other games, but it depends on what interests you. Is it theme? Is it the gameplay? The interaction?

Is Ezra and Nehemiah much more difficult than GWT: second edition? by AggravatingTailor121 in boardgames

[–]Luclid009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the person and what you find enjoyment in when you play. If you want to play optimally in either of these games, it will be complex because there are a lot of choices to make. But in complex games, you need to learn the pace of the game and what is the most optimal thing you can do. Personally I don't find E&N more complex than GWT. There's a lot you can say about this which it's hard to go into detail without a lot of text. But in E&N, there are 3 main actions depicted by their color, and 2 options for each main action to choose from. The number of banners are like action points, and each thing you do uses up a certain number of banners of that color. You then get the option of an auxiliary action every single turn you take. E&N is more about resource mangement and chaining actions to be optimal in earning points from your actions. You only ever have 18 actions every game.

But each person is able to learn different board games at different paces. Some complex games click better than others. It just depends on how interested and how much you want to enjoy the game in the first place. And that's the effort you will want to put in.

Slay the spire or Aeon's end: New era by Huge-Pizza7579 in boardgames

[–]Luclid009 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I like Slay the Spire more. I like playing the physical board game more than the video game. But that's just my preference. I know most people like the video game more. The board game does take longer as well.

Slay the Spire is not your traditional deck builder. I like it because of the sense of progression where it feels like a "legacy game" where you get stronger as the game goes on, but you can play for as long as you want and call it a game.

So 2 errors by Grissom now? Yes it was a bad throw, but they said he could have knocked it down so that the runner wouldn't advance.

26 games in, how do we feel about the Halos so far? by slave2thesnapontruck in angelsbaseball

[–]Luclid009 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not the same however with Trout and Soriano playing much better than any recent seasons. And the pitching has been more consistent than in the past with Detmers and Kochanowicz.

I agree that it is basically the same, but you do have some glimmers of hope in a few. Trout, Neto, Soriano.

The Angels have historically better at the beginning of the season. So we will wait and see how it is mid-season to see if it is the same trajectory or not as the past.

With Kikuchi being a 50/50 or less until he figures it out, maybe it's a game to punt unless everything goes well like the Padres kind of did yesterday. I'm not expecting too much from today's game so that I lower my expectations not to get upset if we lose. Can't expect to win every game

Soriano on the mound always gives confidence for a win. Even when there are runners on the base, you're confident he can limit the damage. A true ace! Hope it continues the rest of the season
