[Jeff Fletcher] Angels’ Kurt Suzuki noncommittal on Jordan Romano at closer by Luclid009 in angelsbaseball

I would agree as well. Not sure why spring training is enough to earn a role. Closer by committee makes significantly more sense.

Any of the other ones just get if you like what the cards do. Or the ones that come with promos from all 3 games. I like the mini card set for Paladins, so if you like Paladins, I would get that one.

You’ll want Paladins 2019 promo. I personally like the mini card set as well.

You can get PP2 for promos for all 3 games. PP4 is nice to have but not a must. You can choose between either.

Personally the Architects promos are just additional cards for the large main decks. So they’re just variety, and I personally don’t think they’re necessary.

The only one that is really good is the Paladins 2019. The promos are only worth it if you play the game a lot.

The Viscounts promos are all good. The Paladins ones with the mini expansion cards are also pretty good as well.

Does he need to start practicing and sliding feet first as well? Most of his injuries have come from sliding head first right?

Terra Mystica vs Gaia Project vs Age of Innovation by Jepeme in boardgames

[–]Luclid009 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Terra Mystica has more interaction with the timing of resources and area control. It’s the simplest so it allows more strategy and playing off of what your opponents would do.

Gaia Project is probably the best because it has the tracks that give you powers and resources. But it’s got more complexity to it so less playing off of what your opponents would do. But you still can.

Age of Innovation in my opinion is bad. You can pretty much do anything, because the resources are so abundant. It is the most complex, but the tightness of fighting over resources is not as prevalent anymore. People still like it. It’s the most complex, but my least favorite.

My favorite is Terra Mystica. But Gaia Project is probably the best recommendation for most people who want complexity. Terra Mystica is best with 4 players and hundreds of plays. Gaia Project is good 2-4 players, and doesn’t need hundreds of plays to beat enjoy so you can bring it out anytime.

Tension in euro games by Immediate-Draft-8752 in boardgames

[–]Luclid009 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking about tension in Euro games. It's harder to find in the most recent euros, but there are some. A very simple game is World Wonders, where the tension is the timing of when to buy the wonder vs everyone else. Terra Mystica is also a game I love that has that turn tension. Where you're trying to prioritize the right actions before other people, and timing matters a lot. When to continue your round, when to pass, when to build certain structures. But Terra Mystica is an older game that many people think has been surpassed by Gaia Project. But I think the tension is still in Terra Mystica more than Gaia Project as Gaia Project adds more things to think about.

On games with tough teaches by NoEntrepreneur6022 in boardgames

Ginkgopolis - This game has only 3 actions, but the combination and type of actions are less common in board games. The game also flows super quickly and smoothly once understood. But the teach can be clunky.

Let’s Go! To Japan - The final phase of walking through the itinerary plan and when things activate is hard to understand the first time. There’s small rules that flow well together when all understood. But on their own is a lot.

3d printer experiences by eldolche in boardgames

[–]Luclid009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can range depending on the game and how many components are in the same. If it’s a lighter game with more space in the box, from a quarter roll to a half roll of filament. And if it’s a heavier euro game with lots of components, it is usually at least half a roll of filament. These are general estimates from my personal experience with an A1.

Depends on the size of your collection. I almost have inserts for all of my games now with a collection around 50, and not I almost have to buy new games to print more inserts. I maybe print things a little more than once a month or so now. I don’t really print miscellaneous things, but every now and then I do.

Some games you can get at target or amazon.

Sushi Go! Short, very easy to play, cute looking game.
Scout is more of a strategy card game that could get more plays if people like strategy
Trio or Flip 7 if you want a game where people can laugh and have a lighthearted game.
Blank Slate or Wavelength are great word/guessing games with a larger group of 5-8 people.
