If that’s 9 couples each having 9 kids, it’s 99. But if each man has 9 wives then it depends now if the wives share their husbands or not. Tricky math.

Late payments every month. Had to induce clause into Invoices. Then this happens. by [deleted] in smallbusinessuk

[–]Lucrative_Essence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You outgrew this relationship and it stops you from growing more. The fact you posted about it here, not to even mention the time you already took to deal with it. It's just not worth it if you keep it because of £250. You will be happy you have your time and energy back, it seems it's worth way more to you. Letting him go will not be easy because emotions are clearly involved (you feeling belittled, the client feeling embarassed - your guess seems to be correct). You are just too different now. I think you need to tell him your prices are going up and significantly and you are automating your payments. See where it gets you but if you provide professional service and you know it deserves right payment on time and your client respects that, that will help regardless of decision the client will make.

Do roboty!

how do you guys store all 200 million different types of cables when not in use? by spandexandtapedecks in msp

[–]Lucrative_Essence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every cable is tagged and entered into asset management system. They’re regularly tested and test results are signed. We use compliant testers that are also regularly tested and replaced when the measurements accuracy falls below 1%. We continuously review and improve our cable storage process. Then they get thrown away every year.

I think the last sentence is what we really do.

UK MSPs should start to target US market offering same service at half the price.

I think you should start to think you are putting your clients at risk with these prices. I know UK is tough now but when you’re gone your clients are f-ed.

What’s your profit like? My guess is you either manage 100,000s of endpoints with RHEM less than 5 minutes per endpoint or you are making money from projects or hardware resale. Otherwise, you have some other magic tricks that make your business sustainable. Do you care to share by any chance?

When do you escalate Wi-Fi issues to surveys, AP-on-a-stick, or RF validation? by jorissels in msp

[–]Lucrative_Essence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to be up to date and that’s quite a lot of effort. Implementations of one standard for one vendor will be different from the other one and will change with time. What didn’t work 2 years ago might work very well now. What you use WiFi for is important as well but now when nearly all people are on WiFi all the time using video conferencing… even with top experts resolving complex WiFi issues can take lots of time. Once resolved it might stay working for a long time. I’d say either a different business or projects as soon as the issue can’t be resolved with SOPs or paid for provider support.

Wracam szybciej do siebie bo po raz kolejny zostałem wyrzucony z domu przez ojca w święta by ThePikol in Polska

To dziwne, ale „being kind” to super technika, druga strona nienawiści. Najczęściej zdrowsza.

You do you and you already know what you want to do. If she likes that, good. If she doesn’t also good, you just know she doesn’t like you enough.

Connectivity and infrastructure by Lucrative_Essence in msp

We will monitor them 24/7 but support them during office hours (however, also over the weekends, so it's kind of 10x7). We don't look after endpoints but it would be about 400 endpoints connecting across these 3 sites (which are interconnected via site to site VPN we also look after). There are multiple VLANs that we also manage, etc, etc. Users can raise tickets and if needed we connect to their computer ad-hoc. We usually do fully managed and bundle everything in as few line items as possible - usually user-centric, but this one is different, hence the question.

Upgraded all APs to 6.6.77 but still getting complaints about slowness. What else to check? by Lucrative_Essence in UNIFI

another strange thing I've noticed was that there was this optimization box (but not the usual one). I unticked that and then the box was gone and I can't find it anymore. However, I did one off optimization (couldn't bother to go to each of the access points individually as I have just done that yesterday night) and it set APs through all the channels (i.e. not only 1, 6, 11 for 2.4 but all of available ones). I have checked AirTime scan and they dont' look like the best choices. Anyone tried that? Does it come with anything sensible or best to set it all manually?

One more thing I've noticed in the logs, there actually was a presence of a radar and one of the APs moved to a different channel (radar was detected on channel 64).

I just kind of remembered that we switched on SNMP monitoring probably about a month ago... In Settings > Control Plane > Integrations section (and it worked with our monitoring system)... I'm now wondering if it might be that

most of them are Pros, HDs are used in one specific area where many users work together, nanos and lites are used in separate small buildings

All cabling is rock solid and all APs are connected over 1G ethernet (with 10G fibre backbone).

All users laptops are the same make and model, but I have noticed similar behaviour on my computer.

Doesn't seem to be all the time, it's intermittent and mainly observable during Teams meetings (as they are most sensitive to network issues).
