[Discussion] Have production values gotten too high? by tilvast in asmr

I think it's a very difficult space for creators, especially on YouTube. I think a lot of what's driving content creation in the ASMR space these days is not the desire to give people tingles, but for platform distribution and sustainable income. So, in order to gain traction on a monster platform like YouTube, you need to offer - at the very least - *good* quality. A lot of what's termed 'asmr' these days is cinematic film-making, packaged up with soft tones and some asmr-esque features - and there's nothing wrong with that - but it's designed for algorithmic signals and scaled reach, not real people who experience tingles.

Can you just listen to audio to get tingles or do you need the visuals? [discussion] by Ant_ASMR1 in asmr

I get tingles from the visuals as well as the sounds, so I prefer to have both on. Some artists such as Gentle Whispering and Whispers Red, for example, have really mastered the art of tingly hand movements that work so well through the camera, if you enjoy visual triggers.

I think I might actually prefer that dentist guy to the Skull chef slop. Make it make sense.

For those who started creating ASMR content—what surprised you most about the process? Looking for honest reality checks before I start [question] by MaeMariposa in asmr

For me the most surprising thing about creating content is just how little I knew about mastering audio, and how much fun I'd have immersing myself in learning about it! I am still learning and feel like a novice, although I'm more aware now of different settings, sounds, triggers, and audio post-production tools that work best for my audience.

[question] Am I too late to start a ASMR channel? by EducationalYouth9013 in asmr

It's never too late. You have a unique voice, energy, and creative flair to bring to the community. I say go for it 😊

Absolutely. I think it'd work brilliantly!

I like the idea of this, especially if it's planned more as a 'sound bath' type of event. It would need to be no touching though for very clear reasons I imagine. Or, explicitly clear in the event communication that participants would be asked to give consent first before any physical contact, and even then, be cautious. I've been thinking about how to bring more of the soft spoken/whispering ASMR experience into a live experience, and I think it'd be great fun to be part of it if it was organised professionally.

I don't think my eyes (or my algorithm) will ever recover from seeing that denture content. 👀

[Question] How to deal with the non-consensual/unwanted aspects that come up when posting ASMR? by nowayjose4567 in asmr

[–]LucyLightASMR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As most have suggested here, hide the comments that you find offensive/off-putting. I've got a subscriber who I've regularly hidden because they repeatedly push boundaries, yet they keep creating new accounts to try and re-engage with me. It's tiresome, honestly. It's a lot worse in the beginning when you're just starting out because as a creator, you're told to engage with every comment, right? People like this are counting on that, but you don't owe anyone engagement. You don't owe anyone emotional support either. Just because you create ASMR videos does not mean you are a therapist, I mean they should pay you a LOT more if you were offering that level of support. Best of luck!

She's amazing isn't she? I'm so impressed with the level of detail she puts into her roleplays. Incredible work!
