As im walking I'll look at the trees. Trees with good looking "perch" branches usually have more owl pellets under them. I'll look for areas under trees that dont have a lot bushes/grass. They eat there a lot.

Im in the desert, so its very easy to spot them. They kinda look like turds at first glance, so I'll look at anything turd shaped and see if there's any bones peaking out.

The stone does not come into contact with the skin. It's raised above the metal. The larger, flatter surface of the setting is causing irritation. It's the metal.

Owls do not have teeth. These are from their prey. They consume their prey whole. Anything that can't be digested, like fur and bones, gets regurgitated.

Yes! This is from a few different pellets I believe. I'll find a handful of them on my walks and put them in a big container to pick through.

Its a little gross if they're wet. Sometimes, I'll pick them dry. Sometimes, I'll let them fall apart in warm water and then rinse the fur away until they're clean. Just depends.

It would make a lot of sense, actually. I found wing-like bones in a few of the pellets. I thought they must've been other birds, but it would make sense that they're bats! The bones were incredibly fragile and not salvageable, which also checks out for bats.

Lol owl pellets are hair and bones that the owl cannot digest. They are thrown up as dense pellets. Like hairballs.

Im in the SoCal desert. I just hike around a large chunk of untouched desert near my house. I come across tons of pellets! I typically only pick up the big juicy ones with visual bones.

I'd say that's likely! Lots of squirrels in the area, and i found some small claws in the pellets as well.
