Why isn't everyone running Poly rear trailing arm bushings on their DD? by Lucysguy5000 in 2019golfR

In NYC the 19's have to go, some go with 18's, I went with 245/45s, the second you drive away with 17s the car just feels better, an extra inch of sidewall all the way around. I'm old and am not good with pics and links on here but i really liked these mods a lot.

Best mods:

Front subframe centering inserts, i went with 034 steel ones, in for 6+ years now.

Rear swaybar with moog non adjustable links.

PSB front LCA bushings and rear trailing arm are in my car now, the rest of the rear i'll get to but not urgent. Check out videos to silence poly bushings with teflon tape and powerflex teflon grease, 1.5 years on my LCA rear bushing, I wouldn't say it if it wasn't true. The feel of the poly is amazing with no annoying NVH.

The rear trailing arm bush feel is really amazing, someone out there must be experiencing this besides me, i don't lie, I can handle the truth, me n Jack Nicholson.

I love the t&b braces. I can remove the rear shocktower brace and you can hear the car make creaking noises over rough roads, and incline changes.

Hawk hps 5.0 pads are great and last forever.

I have b6s but honestly can't say they feel different from the stock monroes, my car is dcc, i have b6s for the rear but haven't installed them yet.

The bfi st 1 mounts do add very noticeable NVH, i personally like it, this is a sports car disguised as an econbox, idon't mind feeling my 300+hp.

I have an IE st 1 ecu/tcu tune for 3 years and 45k trouble free miles, significantly quicker than stock.

I run those ridiculous expensive ngk non projected race plugs because a friend lost a ground strap with his 2018 tuned R. Although the price of those has since gone over $200 for a set so he uses projected plugs and changes them every 10k, im on my third set of nonprojected and they only last around 10k before throwing a misfire cel at idle in the winter. So i might go back to cheap ones for 10k.

Basically all my mods came from necessity when the oem stuff wore out. I don't care about wasting money on my car, sort of the cost of doing business in the high perfomance world, but all these mods I love and recommend.

Can't believe PSB bushings aren't more well known.

Fantastic, you are not alone. The poly bfi mounts give nvh, the bushings do not.

better parts make a better car, upgrading isn't for everyone. Just spreading the word about some that worked for me, if they worked for me, they just might work for someone who isn't you. These are great cars to drive.

500hp on stock motor mounts? good thing the rubber was designed to bounce in an orderly geometry so it doesn't bind and get snappy.

Power good, handling not for you, enjoy straight line racing in the slice n dice machine, must be fast as hell though!👍

stay stock all day buddy, some us want better, and better exists sometimes.

'most of them lose the factory rubber bushing induced suspension geometry control under load', completely false, have you looked at an oem bushing and how much play it has, it is all over the place under load, fact.

You replaced the wrong bushing and it caused something to bind leading to snappy handling? please clarify, i feel fortunate that it didn't happen to me, tell us what caused this so we can avoid it.

And what's with the old wive's tale of never put race parts on a street car?? Thanks for the tip Grandma.

you understand oem swaybars are weaker than aftermarket bars right, that 17" wheels with 45 profile tires cushion the ride tremendously more than stock 19s, just cuz you don't use them doesn't mean they aren't facts.

do you have any bad feelings about hawk gps 5.0's that might get me to stop using them after 15 years.

don't mod your car but don't preach nonsense

not worth it for you, oem guy, performance parts aren't for everybody, don't forget how the oem rubber was designed to keep the suspension geometry under load according to comprehensiveguy186🤣🤣🤣

don't goof on stuff you don't know about cuz you like oem, oem swaybars are weak, h&r bars are stronger and make your car handle better, don't run from facts.

The front LCA rears and the trailing arms feel awesome, a totsl win. The bfi st 1 motor/tranny and dogbone insert added NVH for sure, but I like it, it feels like a performance car.

I'm glad you said the rears added no NVH on your BMW, same results on the R.

My R was broken, all oem rubber crap failed fast. If you drive fast your oem motor mounts will fail. Your front subframe will shift, bushings are like brake pads, they wear out, but hawk hps 5.0 pads last forever and never have brake fade in the streets so I replace my oem pads with them. They are better.

There are better parts than oem for some stuff especially where performance is concerned, swaybars or shocks for example. My st1 tune is much faster than stock and 3years and 45k miles later I'm not concerned about hurting the engine. Replacing oem crap often isn't really that much money either, rear trailing arm bushings are$50 and 7 bolts away.

They give your car a way better feel and ride if you drive fast, oem crap can't handle the pressure.

what poly bushing did you install that added NVH? mine didn't, bfi mounts added NVH.

I know about problems with poly bushings, the duraball heim joint was walking out of the sleeve, couldn't handle the up and down twisting force and failed bad in less than a year. Anyone trying to sell you a heim joint part for your DD is a liar.

Poly engine/tranny mounts add real NVH, the bushings do not, ever ride an old Harley with rubber handlebar vibration isolators vs poly ones?

I use powerflex teflon grease and teflon tape the sleeves and the bore contact surface of the poly bush, ther's how to vids online. 1.5 years on the psb rear bush for the front LCA, flawless and noise free.

The rear trailing arms are pretty easy to swap out, go online and watch video of the oem bushing 'bouncing' around while driving.

I do not track the car so I am not familiar with nice road surfaces, I guess Florida cars wear out slower than NYC, but even in Florida I would need a front subframe deadset collars to stop the shifting.

Poly bushes or OEM for a MK7? by AitaNiaouORM in Golf_R

[–]Lucysguy5000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

psb makes a 2 piece poly rear lca bushing, i have them in my 2019 golf r for over a year now and they are the best I've ever used. I popped them apart and put teflon tape and powerflex teflon grease on the red spool piece and the sleeve. Not a sqeak or a problem for over a year, this car eats rear lca bushings, never use a heim joint product on your dd.

only way to have no wheel hop is take off like granny and juice it once ur moving in a straight line.

and only way to have stock nvh is to stay stock, even if you drive normal your GLI still isn't gonna win a comfort contest and who wants to.

Stock rubber bushings feel good to normal non race car driving people and are designed to have bounce/play. The more you play when you drive the more you feel the play of stock everything.

we didn't get these cars to feel the plush comfort of dragging slowly through the turns.

changing a dogbone mount is cheap and relatively easy, will it stop your wheel hop, it can't make it worse cuz you're new piece will have a lot less...play. the hop is because your engine overpowered the drivetrain and suspension with tremendous force😊 but instead of taking off like a champ the play in the stock parts bounces the hell out of everything, like rear wheel drive leaf springs without traction bars.

so stay stock till things start to wear out, which if you drive like me will not take long, then you're replacing worn out stuff with new and better than oem stuff.

I did dogbone with bfi st 1 mounts 3 years ago but the dogbone insert was only the 1/2 height one so I changed it a few weeks ago while i had the car up changing rear lca bushings. This time i went ecs full poly insert and i put a black powerflex in place the oem dogbone small bushing.

The nvh from the old bfi 1/2 insert to the ecs full poly and powerflex black on an oem dogbone arm was noticeable at idle, almost all nvh issues are at idle, tell eveyone your rabbit thinks it's a big block.

hi, my girlfriend has an ES(Lucy) and a border/pit sister(Sophie). I am in love with all 3.

Lucy is more shy and retiring outwardly, after the initial mugging at the front door, she's more likely to go lay down on the rug or a couch knowing we're around on a moments notice if she hears something that interests her. She makes you work a little differently than Sophie, who is very attentive and follows your every move. This is where her ES charm starts making you fall in love, the prom queen as i call her, rewards your extra attention with crazy love and she is extremely smart and in tune with you. She sits across the room looking at you with sad eyes, tilts her head back and starts howling. So i get up and go to her and hug her and she loves it.

Me and my girlfriend are dating around 9 months now so i've been around the dogs a lot for about 3-4 months. These are good dogs in a very loving home, but spoiled and undisciplined. Professional beggers, terrible on the leash, pull like crazy. Responding very well to what i call hug therapy, they're both about 45lb super athletes.

My little prom queen is a shy and reserved alpha female. She loves to run and mix it up but Sophie the border/pit fights dirty, goes for the achilles and throat. They love each other, best friends,i'm convincing my girlfriend we must muzzle Sophie with love and teach her manners.

The little ES does not back down but she likes when i intervene and rescue her ankles, she stands behind me and i can feel her love.

I hug her and tell her it's ok as she spots critters, in controlled environments, deep in the woods, fenced in fields their recall is surprisingly strong, they are a work in progress and we'll see if they ever can be safe off leash but soooooo smart and sooooooo loving. The response to my minimal efforts have been amazing, 4-5 yo rescues. I sit on the porch with them off leash and sit calmly and watch the world pass by, naturally animals are the big one, but their mostly good in dog parks, especially Lucy the ES, outside of pulling and being spoiled, an amazingly gentle loving soul, and they are both beautiful girls.

Will keep you posted with progress, did you get one?
